04 December 2015 – Dog World
The Papillon (Butterfly) Dog Club held their Autumn/ Winter Open Show at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Solihull. Brian Lees the clubs secretary kindly has sent me in snippets from the show, which I am sure everyone would love to hear. The club had to do a quick re-think as their caterers at the last minute were unable to do the show. All exhibitors were asked to bring something along to contribute to a buffet style lunch and from what I have heard you could have fed the whole surrounding area, as there was so much variety. Melanie Mann’s friend Claire helped out and in particular organised the judge and stewards meals. Chris Slater had the cook’s pinny on in the kitchen helping serve the free teas and coffees that the club had laid on. Brian would like to thank the good nature of non committee and friends/spouses of exhibitors to get the show through and they were so grateful. Valerie Lockhart once again excelled in her crafting genius making beautiful hand made gifts for the main winners. I am sure they were gratefully received and will treasure their mementos from the show.
The clubs newsletter will be out at LKA, so keep an eye out for that. Always nice to thumb through the pages reading the various interesting articles and backtracking what has gone on in the previous months. Brian also would like you to pen in your diary that the Clubs AGM will be in next March year. The club are always on the lookout for new committee members to give their input to our lovely breed. So if you feel that this might be for you, get the wheels in motion early.
So, let’s get back to the results from the show. Mr Tom Isherwood had the task of judging the breed with Miss Debbie Goodwin (Paplene) judging the Junior Handling, Stakes and Special Classes. The principal winners were as follows. Teresa and Peter Cullen’s must have been overjoyed as they were the breeders of the BIS winner. Anne Borg’s bitch Petress Dark and Daring took the top spot for the show and I guess Anne, Peter and Teresa are still doing a jig around the kitchen. RBIS/ BOS went to Pat Munn’s Smile Line Silenzio Sunshine Garsiv (imp Jpn) and BP handled by Katriona Milroy was Sue & Ian Ian Victor and Emma McLaughlin’s Farleysbane Frilly Filly. BV Liz & Alan Bartram’s CH Burghbridge Ur Solid Gold, BPH Jo Davidson-Poston and Karen Farrell’s Multi Ch Magnolise Tiago for Spinillons SHcm (imp US Ph.) Best Junior Handler of the day went to Cerys Lewis. Congratulations to all the class and principal winners and give yourself a pat on the back for helping to make the show a success.
There was another show success when Chris & Aiden Foynes enjoyed a brilliant day, although very cold at Morcambe Limit Show. Their Sweetbriar Face the Music at Johnasta took TGP1 and RBIS. The breed judge was Elaine Waddington and BIS judge Carole Moore.
Lynn George-Evans took a trip along to Liverpool DKA with their Moetica Prince Charming At Jorgealin (Imp) taking a TGP1. The breed judge Derfel Owen and TGP judge Mrs Dawn Rathmell.
I went along to Wrexham DCS with Dustin. What a lovely venue the Brymbo & Tanyfron Enetrprise Centre is. The venue is spotlessly clean, light and airy with a great café area. The committee with David Shoemark and all the committee there on the day put on an excellent show, very well run and it was a show that the exhibitors’ needs came first at all costs. The committee couldn’t have been more charming they were a credit to the club. Brilliant raffle with amazing prizes, certainly no returns will be given to the next show for the raffle! Good size rings with rubber mats, so no chance of the four paws slipping on the sports type floor. Mr Phil Lunt (Oaktreepark) was judging our breed and he was very sympathetic in the manner he went over the dogs. I was delighted that Gleniren Stardustmaker went on to take BIS3 and BPIS, a great result for this little fella. Mrs Pauline Sidgwick (Paulian) was the BIS and BPIS judge. Petula Humpreys also had a nice result with Glynllifon Pocket Rocket at Gloynbyw taking BV in the TGP.
Congratulations to one and all at the shows, what good results for the butterfly brigade.
Good news has come back with results from Sue Morrell and Pat Urwins recent operations. I am absolutely delighted, for you both. Please spare a thought for the other Pap folk that may be under the weather at this moment in time. I’m sending positive vibes for your speedy recovery.
