04 November 2016 – Our Dogs
It is with great pleasure I am sat here writing the breed notes for you all. This is my first week and I seem to have so much to include, lets hope I can sustain this!! Before starting I should thank my predecessor Alex Forth for writing the notes for the past year or so. With her announcing her retirement from the dog world, I am sure that you will all join me in wishing everybody involved in her new venture the very best of luck.
I have set up a specific email address for you all to send items for inclusion within the breed notes; breednotes.magriarrowsmith@gmail.com hopefully this will make the process smoother and easier for us to administer. I would love to hear from everybody; home and abroad, from companion, open or championship shows, also remember to include agility, pat dogs, rescue notes, really anything at all involving Papillon’s as a breed and our beloved pets. It would also be lovely to report on our younger handlers that might be handling at dog training, ring-craft matches and shows etc.
This past weekend many of us were at Midland Counties where our very own breed specialist Mrs Mary Whitehill (Amicae) was at the helm in the ring. Mary and her family have bred many champions over the years so there was no wonder that this was the largest Papillon entry this year (with the exception of Crufts). It was a busy day at the show, especially spectating ringside around the open dog class. Mary found her main winners as follows; Dog CC & Best of Breed to our very own Ch Rozamie Dream Lover and Bitch CC and Best Opposite Sex to Jill Varley’s Ambre Dore Beata Bea At Coxleyview (Imp), this was her first from a quality Junior class, very well done to Jill as I believe this is also her first CC in the breed so an amazing day for her. Reserve Dog CC was awarded to Sean Carrol and James Newmans, Ch/Ir/Ger/Czech Ch Hundebuden’s Juno Pondabudens and Reserve Bitch CC to Sue Victors, Ch Lafford Kandy Floss JW handled as always by Caroline Lee-Slater. Best Puppy was awarded to Elizabeth Patrick’s Volpecula Hansome Is, handled by Wendy Waters, a very well done to all of the other exhibitors.
It was lovely to see Chris Foynes at the show, who has received good news about her health this past week. Her treatment seems to be reducing and keeping things at bay, which is fantastic news. Chris and Aiden had a little celebration with cake and bubbly to celebrate this and their recent Reserve CC and gaining of a Junior Warrant which was lovely.
The day continued for Papillons during the Toy Group Judging where Toy Specialist, Mr Tony Allock MBE awarded Group 3 to Ch Rozamie Dream Lover in a very strong Toy Group. Well done to the other group places; 1-Maltese (later going Reserve Best in Show), 2-Pug, 3-Papillon, 4-Chinese Crested.
Whilst this was all going on, across the opposite side of the globe another breed specialist Penny Robbins was adjudicating over in Australia at The Papillon Club of Victoria Championship Show. The results from down under are as follows; Dog CC & Best In Show – Sailoz Dancing In The Dark, Bitch CC and Runner up Best in Show Gr Ch Sailoz Riverdance, Best Baby In Show Sailoz Xclusive Elegance, Best Opposite Baby Sailoz Xclusively Ordered. Aust Bred In Show Cup was awarded to Ch Sailoz Rhythm N Blues, Best Opp Aust Bred Ch Sailoz New Years Delight, Best Opp Veteran was Grand Ch Szzan Nymphadora Aurora. I hope that Penny had a lovely time over there and lets hope she can bring a little sunshine back with her!

King is already an; International, Belgian, French, Dutch, Danish, Finland, Portugese and Czech Champion, a Multi Group Winner and Multi BIS Winner. I am sure that you will all join me in congratulating Kathleen and Jens on this accolade and wish them luck in the challenge during March 2017.

Also the club newsletter is about to go for printing the deadline for submission is Friday 11th November, please send any copy material to Brian Lees.
Its Halloween now and the ghosts and ghouls are out, signalling the drawing in of the evenings, bonfire and firework night around the corner this coming weekend. Please make sure that your furry kids are tucked up in the house with a radio on, away from the excitement outside.
I look forward to more information coming to me over the weeks when there are no Championship shows as I would love to write about other things going on for our breed and its exhibitors. The deadline for my submission to Our Dogs is 10am on a Monday morning so I really need to have information before 8pm on a Sunday evening for inclusion in that week’s notes.
