Bath, glorious Bath. The Championship Show that ticks all the boxes for the exhibitor. Grass that you would be proud to have on the back lawn, making the dogs perform fabulously, modern in- out tenting so no matter what the weather, everyone is dry and happy. The BIS marquee looked stunning and everything was presented perfectly. This show runs like clockwork and the committee run around all day smartly dressed in their Bath blue blazers all working non stop. The show is a credit to each every one of them and they should be bursting with pride. Trade stands were a plenty and many refreshment available to suit various palates.

The previous couple of days before the first day the weather had been beautiful however on the first day which was Toy day the mist descended heavily. The grass had a film of wet cling film all over and the Paps early in the day soon had wet feet, legs and tums. As the day went on it improved and even Mr Sunshine woke up and gave his presence. So the day redeemed itself and we went home in more pleasant circumstances.

Our judge for the day was non breed specialist Mr Stephen Goodwin (Lanola), best known for his Cavaliers and Charlie’s. His principal winners for the day were as follows; a delighted Wendy Walters taking the DCC with Sweetbriar Sticks An Stones JW, RDCC Julie Clint’s Ch Papplewick Preacher Man JW Sh.CM. BCC /BOB a very pleased Michele Buss with Ch Twiggy Cupcake Of Flutura JW, RBCC Irene & Glenn Robb’s Ch Gleniren Kiss Me Kate Sunshoo. For BP it was Gregory’s Skyvana Reddy To GoTo Tonkory, congratulations to Sophie Langdon the breeder. BV Jo Davidson–Poston’s Ch & Ir Ch Spinillons Saffire JW Sh.CM.

On Toy Day Irene & Glenn Robb’s Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo had a fabulous day winning the day for the Champion Stakes under very well respected judge Mrs Claire Coxall. Glenn and I returned back to Bath for the final under Mrs Coxall on the Sunday to compete against the other three winning dogs. What a brilliant day, Travis won overall and now goes into the Eukanuba Ch Stakes final on Oct 31st. We both came home on cloud 9.

Over the water in clover land Marian Sloan has sent me in news of her success. At the Papillon and Phalene Club of Ireland where the judge was Ms J.M.I. Zijlmans, Marian took RBIS, Dog Green Star and BOB was Carine Rutten’s Multi Ch Freetain’s Kick Café Ritzoretto WJW10, he is staying with Marian for his summer holidays. Marian carried on her winning day taking the BGS with was Ir.Ch Austrene One Vision An Ch 14, CJW 14;CW 14,15 Jun Ch, she also won BGS at the Toy and Companion Club (GP 9 Ch show) at the same venue the same day. Congratulations to both Marian and Carine, job well done.

Back in the UK Boston & DCS Open Show had a super Papillon entry of 34. The breed judge was Raewyn O’Brien finding the principal winners to be; Peter & Teresa Cullen’s little girl, Petress Dark and Daring who took BOB and TGP2. I believe this gave her the final points for her JW. You both must have been thrilled, very well done. Carol Lees also had a successful day with a new youngster Lynflyer Winter Story Lafford taking TPGP2 . Congratulations also to breeder Lynda Woodrow. The judge for both TGP and TPGP was Doreen Dowsett.

Look forward to meeting up with you all next week, let’s hope summertime has arrived good and proper. Sun brollies at the ready, if I can remember how to use ours!
