07 August 2020 Breed Notes

Show news has come in from Carol and Brian Lees. Yes, you heard right I did say show news, which is an unusual statement these days. How nice it is to report on success abroad with UK breeding. Well done to everyone involved.
Multi Ch Lafford Postman Pat (Patrick) had been shown on all four days of the shows in Split, Croatia held from July 23rd to July 26th. Patrick is owned by Carine Rutten, bred by Carol Lees and handled by Janine Klein.
On the first day Patrick was Best Male and Best Opposite Sex under judge Mr Stefan Sinko from Slovenia.
Day two saw Patrick win CAC, CACIB & Best of Breed and Group 2 under judge Mrs Jasna Matejcic.
Day three was also CAC, CACIB & Best of Breed thanks to judge Mr Nikola Smolic from Croatia.
Day four Patrick was again CAC, CACIB & Best of Breed with the added bonus of gaining the Champion title of Croatia title under judge Mr Davor Javor from Croatia.
Great news, very well done everyone. You must all be as proud as punch.

ROYAL CANIN ANNOUNCEMENT.
We at Royal Canin are reaching out to you as we sponsored your show in the last twelve months.
With the ongoing Covid-19 crisis we are trying to help your winners redeem their prizes. Normally this would be done on our stand at the championship shows. As most shows are now cancelled until the end of October, we have altered the system to allow winners to claim their prizes via our Area Business managers.
To this end, we would be grateful if you could share the wording below on your club’s social media page or through your club website to try and make sure everyone who has a prize has a good chance of redeeming it in a timely fashion.
“Don’t forget that you can still redeem your gift certificates won at shows sponsored by Royal Canin by contacting their Area Business Manager. To find out who the Business Manager is for your area, click here: https://bit.ly/3b6yjOr”
We hope this goes some way to showing our support of shows and events and look forward to supporting you in the future.

WELSH KENNEL CLUB
It is with regret that the Welsh Kennel Club announces that its January 2021 Open Show is cancelled.
Due to the uncertainty of the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, this decision has been made in the interest of the welfare, safety and security of judges, exhibitors, volunteers and the WKC officers and committee.
The Welsh Kennel Club sends its very best wishes to our members, exhibitors, stewards, supporters and the dog showing community.
We look forward to seeing you all again during safer times.
Amanda Rees (Open Show secretary.)

THE PAPILLON (Butterfly) DOG CLUB
Breaking news – there is a new look to our club website. Everything you ever needed to know about Papillons and our club. The new site is easier to navigate, has all the clubs show results plus the easy access members area where the latest newsletter can be found along with AGM reports and notices. Paid up members must be registered, a very simple procedure, so if you’ve not done it yet – what are you waiting for. Back issues of newletters will soon be available in the members area too so there’s plenty to interest our club members.
Brian Lees (Club secretary)

The Officers and Committee of Driffield Championship Dog Show Society were saddened today at the announcement of the passing of Martin Freeman. Martin served Driffield Championship Show for many years, working as the Secretary for 36 years and was synonymous with the society throughout that time. He was well known and respected throughout the world of pedigree dogs, and fulfilled many judging appointments throughout his career, at both group and BIS level.
Sad new indeed as many Papillon folk will have known Martin throughout the years.

For those of you in the poorly corner I wish you all a speedy recovery.
Jean Banfield has just finished her five week programme of treatment, I am sure Jean and Roger are both relieved that the long travelling has eased for the time being.
Lynda Phillips has been in considerable pain with a back and leg problem. I am sure she is very appreciative of Mary Whitehill’s help during this stressful time and also a visit from Pam Taylor.
If you know of anyone who is under the weather at this present time please let me know and I will include a get wish from all our readers.

Everyone take care of yourselves and I will catch up with you all very soon.
