11 November 2022 Breed Notes

Scottish Kennel Club or better known as SKC is held at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, Edinburgh. This show is one of the few shows that the Scottish exhibitors can call local and haven’t got to leave possibly the night before and then travel hours to reach the venue.
It is a very well run show and the committee work very hard to make sure everything runs like clockwork.
As I wasn’t at the show I have only been able to glean a little bit here and there and apparently the hall was buzzing with activity.

For this show the Papillon judge was to be Brian Rix of the well known Ricksbury Kennel who with his partner Kevan Berry have indeed enjoyed many successes with their Cavaliers and King Charles Spaniels. It was to be a double judging appointment for this show as Kevan Berry was judging the Toy Puppy Group so at least during the long ride up North they had each other to natter to.
There was an entry of 36 Papillons to be judged so perhaps a disappointing entry on paper for the breed.

Mr Rix found his principal winners to be: BCC/ BOB/ BPIB and TGP3 Kirsty and Evan Ryan and Jens Goessens’s Uppercut Daydream Believers With Feorlig (Imp Bel), Best Veteran / RBCC Helen Walsh’s Jorgealin Moon Star At Purepixie, Best Special Beginners Mrs M Taylor Pamhurst Capriccio At Kanetayl.
I was thrilled for Miriam Bogue taking the DCC with Adelays Brilliant Buddy (Imp Russia). Glenn had given this little one as a puppy the DCC at a previous SKC so absolutely delighted for Miriam and Pam Taylor who handles. One more Challenge Certificate and the crown is your, very well done. RDCC Kirsty and Evan Ryan and Kathleen Rossens’s Ch U Knock Me Off My Feet Daydream Believers With Feorlig. Congratulations to those that were placed in the cards and took home a principal win.

For the Open Show news: at North Devon Agricultural Open Show the judge for the breed and the TGP was Gillian Taylor. BOB and TGP1 was Anne Borg’s Elendil Crusader handled by Sue Stanbury and Res Best of Breed Sue Stanbury’s Inixia Made By Design

Wallsall & District Canine Association Open Show the breed judge was breed specialist Mrs Chris Headley (Yeldeah) and she found her winners to be Chris and Bob Anderson’s Pappretty Grt Expectations, RBOB Carol Lee’s Lafford Golden Child JW and BP Carol Lees’s – Lafford Black Onyx.

West Bromwich & Wednesbury Canine Society Open Show here Vanessa Wegmann (Essvana) judged the breed and the TGP. For BOB it was to be Carol Lees’s Lafford Golden Child JW, RBOB Lafford Golden Nugget and BP Mrs J Walklett’s Angullyon Enigma’s Secret.
