13 January 2016 – Dog World

With the New Year commenced and up and running from the starter blocks the Top Dog Awards for 2016 have been announced. What a good year for our breed with two Papillons appearing in the Top Ten All Breed listing. Firstly, I would like to say a huge congratulations to Charley Donaldson and Hazel (Ch Nothing Compared To You at Crosscop) the Whippet for taking the #1 spot of Top Dog All Breeds 2016, sponsored by DOG WORLD and Arden Grange. Glenn and I have been rooting for you all the way, we are so thrilled for you. Savour this moment Charley, it will stay with you forever, I know when Travis took the title in 2015 it was a magic moment beyond dreams and several pinches later, the reality dawned. Hazel is owned by Leigh Morris, George Waddell and Charley Donalson and bred by Diane Barnard.

We are so proud of our very own Travis (Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo) after heading this award in 2015 taking the 4th spot in the Top Dog All Breeds 2016 with 83 points, but also achieving once again Top Toy and Top Papillon 2016. The odds for this about a million to one happening for a second year, so our little butterfly ‘did pretty good’.

Joe Magri and Kevin Arrowsmith managed a huge jump up the leader board after CH Rozamie Dream Lovers success at LKA acclaiming 8th position on the Top Ten listings with 70 points. This also gave them Runner up Top Toy and Runner Up Top Papillon. Many congratulations to all concerned on your successful year.

A special congratulations, although not Papillon related to DR Tony Allcock MBE who was standing in the second spot for Top Toy for so many weeks, it really could have gone either way with Robson (Ch Sleepyhollow Robson) 69 points or Travis taking Top Toy. Robson was beaten by just one point, at the final hurdle for runner up. Congratulations on your year Tony, I am sure 2017 will bring you joy with your lovely Jap Chins. For the remaining awards results they are as follows: Top Brood Papillon sponsored by Dog World/Eden Foods must be a very delighted Teresa & Peter Cullen with Ancojo Whisper To Me. Her breeders are John and Ann Cooper. Top Stud Papillon sponsored by Dog World/Royal Canin was Julie Clint’s Ch Papplewick Preacher Man. Well done to both Julie and Jerry Munroe the breeder. Top Puppy Papillon sponsors Our Dogs/Natures Menu was, Jenny Wiggins with Rozamie Monsieur Arthur for Scapafield. Breeders, Joe Magri & Kevin Arrowsmith. Top Breeder Papillons, we are thrilled to say is Gleniren who are Irene & Glenn Robb.

Huge congratulations to everyone, it is no mean feat to achieve these awards and I am wishing much success to all the Papillon exhibitors for 2017.

Just one Open Show result has come in at Stourbridge & DCS Lafford Inspector Morse at Poppywood, went on to win TPGP4. Well done owner Shelia Wilkinson and the breeder Carol Lees. The Breed judge was Miss E Morley and the TGP judge Mr Simon Parsons.

Take care on the roads and I look forward at the time of writing to seeing the results from the first Champ Show of 2017, Boston CH Show. Unfortunately we couldn’t make the show this year but those lovely memories of BIS 2016 are still very much remembered.

Glenn was thrilled to receive news that he had been nominated for Exhibitor of the Year at the Pawscars which is held in March on the Wednesday before Crufts.
