13 October 2023 Breed Notes

Bournemouth Championship Show held at Pikes Farm, Poole was a gusty day at times. One of those days for the long coated breeds when I brush was somewhat pointless. But brush we do as it becomes a natural action over time. Plenty of space at this venue and well laid out. I personally miss the previous venue of the New Forest it had so much atmosphere and forty minutes closer for many. Perhaps we all just loved seeing the ponies.

The Papillon judge for Bournemouth was to be well respected Toy Specialist Mr Mervyn Evans from South Wales. As always, Mr Evans conducted himself in the ring in the best manner and at all times gave consideration for the exhibitors and their charges. He was kind and considerate whilst going over the dogs on the table giving every four paws a chance to put best paws forward. The principal winners of the day were as follows. DCC / BOB Ch U Knock Me Off My Feet Daydream Believers With Feorlig owned by Kirsty and Evan Ryan and Kathleen Roosens. Best Puppy and receiving a lovely Toy Puppy Group 3 was Irene and Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Oops I Did It Again Sunshoo. The Toy group and Toy Puppy Group judge was Mr Dale Hick. This was a first Toy Group judging appointment for Mr Hick so many congratulations. Best Veteran was Pat and Brian Cox’s Ch Tricianbri Tuppence A Kiss JW Sh.Cm and Best Special beginners Michaela and Shireen Last’s Melangel Miss Dollymix. There were many closed roads and diversions on the journey home which made it a very long day for everyone.
