Southern Counties had a foreign flavour with a judge from Italy, Mr Francesco Cochetti judging the breed, Dr Goran Bodegard from Sweden judging the Toy Group, from the USA Mr Ron Menaker judging the Toy Puppy Group and BPIS and finally for the Veteran Group Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen from Finland. We did return back to the UK for BIS with Mr Keith Nathan and BVIS Jill Peak.

I am lead to believe that the sun was shining for the day. The rings are always of a good ample size and with the ever ending lengthy marquees must have given adequate cover for what ever the weather turned out to be.

Mr Cochetti found his principal winners to be as follows: What a brilliant show for Gordon and Cathy Urquhart, many congratulations to you both. You must have had a room reserved on cloud nine for days, very well done on taking BCC/ BOB/ BPIB and finally TPGP3 with their youngster Blackpark Patricia. Liz and Alan Bartram must have also been cock-a-hoop taking the DCC with Lisa and Chris Christensen’s with Tresor’s Kings Valiant Lancelot (USA). BV was Melvin and Cox’s Tricianbri Wish Beaune at Shalandar shCM. For the RCC’s it was Kirsty Miller and Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smart Pants JW shCM RDCC and the RBCC was Caroline Lee- Slater’s Ch Jorgealin Cast A Spell For Kingshaven.

Over the water in Cork Ch Show Diane Mooney had a good day taking BOB with Ch Mein Drooms Vasko, Le Papillon Ravisant Daniel was Best Puppy in breed and Reserve Best Dog and Le Papillon Ravisant Bianca was bitch Green Star and Best Bitch .The judge was Mrs I Cook.

Susie and Margaret Orchard enjoyed themselves at the Royal Cornwall Show even had a cheeky glance at Prince Charles and Camilla who were visiting the show. I hope the curtsies were practiced! Their Ringlands Yoko’s Solo at Panspayon shCM took BOB. Sue Stanbury was also at the show and took Best Puppy with Inixia Ever Ready Eddie and then going on took take TPGP1. The judge was Mr Alan Dredge ( Alcavona).

Exciting news in from Steve and Karen Maskell who exhibited at Ashfield Canine Society, they had a brilliant day taking TPGP1 and BAVNSCP with Kaskell Milo’s Dream under judge Anthony Stuart-Smith and then going all the way by taking the top spot of BPIS under Marinda Taylor-Smith. What a fabulous result for your nine month old youngster as this was her second BPIS, very well done.

In the poorly sick corner is Karen Diprose who has been suffering from severe back pain for the last nine months. Karen has gone into surgery and now fully concentrating on making a full recovery. We hope to see you at the shows very soon Karen but a birdy has told me you have a family wedding to focus on first of all. Sending lots of get well wishes, especially for you.

Enjoy the shows everyone and of course the sunshine, we have waited long enough for Mr Sunshine to arrive. Let’s hope he doesn’t start packing his bags to venture lands anew and stays here with us. Keep your dogs safe and cool mats to the ready!
