South of England Papillon Club held their Open Show and it was a family affair for the judges. Mrs Shirley Colyer (Shirando) took on the task of judging the junior handlers awarding Tiara Munn the winner of the 6 – 11 yrs. Tiara is the granddaughter of Pat Munn (Ringlands) and I guess Pat was just bursting with pride. For the 12-16 yrs Phoebe Harris took away the honours in this age group.

Today Doug, Shirley’s husband was at the helm of the main judging of our lovely breed, a special day for him indeed. I believe the club received a good entry and by the end of the day the principal winners were as follows. Win Price must have been absolutely delighted as the ultimate award of
BIS/BB went to Ch Connection Siljans White Star JW ShCM (IMP Finland), RBIS Jo Davidson-Poston’s Remani’s So You Think You Can Dance, BPIS Nash’s Ookimimi Jitterbug, BVIS Pat Munn’s Int Ch Smile Line Cover Girl Immortal Gene, BPHIS Sue Morrell and Thesbina Teague’s Temelora Dream Lover. congratulations to all the principal and class winners.

The committee would like to thank the judges, stewards and catering team and all the exhibitors who supported the show. It helped to make the day so enjoyable. It was also so lovely to see a large turn out for the baby puppy walk

Their next show will be the Championship Show on Sunday 2nd August the judge will be breed specialist Mr Philip Shirley (Courdenrouge). It will be a down memory lane moment for him as he used to be the secretary of the club when it first started. Schedules will be out soon so keep a watch out so you can give the club an entry.

Another show across the water in Ireland was the Fermoy international Championship Show. Elizabeth Patrick must have been overjoyed when the news came through from Diane Mooney who handled her Phalene that Ir Ch Volpecula Set in Gold received BOB/Green Star and that all important fourth CACIB under Mr H Boelaars. Diane Mooney also had success with her Ir Ch Glenvalley Glinting Ice receiving also BOB, GS and CACIB. Congratulations to you both.

Katriona Milroy had a lovely May Bank Holiday Monday at Chelmsford Canine Society. Her Petitchien Keep The Faith At Farethinghall took TGP3 and TPGP3. The breed judge was breed specialist Karen Diprose and for the group it was Caroline Odd.

Alan and Liz Bartram have brought news from Ken Raper’s (Kennice) funeral. The funeral was very well attended by family and friends including those representing the Papillon Clubs. In recognition of his long career in the RAF he was honoured with Pall Bearers from RAF Scampton, his last posting, and the presence of his local RAF Association. He was also a member of the Castleford Male Voice Choir who provided the choral music for the service which concluded with the playing of The Last Post on solo trumpet. It was great tribute and wonderful send off for a very true kind gentleman.

Next week will bring news from Birmingham National so until then enjoy your four paws and hopefully some sunshine along the way, well we can always live in hope!
