17 October 2014 – Dog World
A special weekend show for Glenn Robb (Gleniren) as he was judging our beautiful breed at South Wales Papillon Club Championship Show. This club show always brings a friendly atmosphere to the table and makes all exhibitors present extremely welcome. The few days before the club had been challenged to the limits. Sue Stanbury had rang the Leisure Centre to check all was okay only to be told that the restaurant area was now closed and there would be no food available. They were also not allowed the use of the kitchen. I am sure after a big gulp and a help flag appearing from the top of Sue’s head a Masterchef hero came immediately to the rescue. The Masterchef in question Irene Jennings promptly donned pinnie and set to in her kitchen preparing a culinary delight for everyone in attendance. Even urns for water were not available so with kettles at the ready and the microwave poised in a corner of the hall it was all systems go. Other members also gave their donation to help the situation. The food was delicious and throughout the day exhibitor’s tums were well satisfied. Glenn and I were served a salad that was second to none. So a huge round of applause for Irene who did a fantastic job even better than if the restaurant had been open.
The other bonus is that it wasn’t raining; there have been so few shows at this venue that it hasn’t been pouring out of the heavens. Perhaps that is why Wales is so green, well that’s the Welsh exhibitors not speaking at the next shows then! Although a bit chilly bon-bon at times, Len Stanbury the clubs secretary didn’t think so dressed in his shorts and top so think we must all be a bit precious. The club had set out the hall really well; the ring was of a super size so plenty of manoeuvrable space for exhibitors to exhibit their four paws.
During the lunch break Jonathan Wells had the job of putting the Junior Handlers through their paces which he did expertly awarding Holly Bradford Best Junior Handler for the show. Congratulations Holly. This was followed by the puppy walk where little ones could take to the ring for a rehearsal of what was to come in future months. Sue Stanbury went over the youngsters and gave them their first introduction to the show ring table. All strutted their stuff beautifully and seemed to enjoy their maybe first experience.
Glenn was all smartly suited and ready for the day of judging ahead. All went smoothly along with the help of Robin Brown who was stewarding for the day. For me it was pleasant to sit and watch all the dogs in the ring, not an opportunity available when you are showing so a very enjoyable experience. Glenn had a lovely entry and went over each dog kindly with a thorough efficiency.
The principal winners for the day were as follows; DCC/BIS a delighted Sue and Jon Catons Polish Import Coffee Ice Cream Forussi at Henrix (imp Pol), RDCC/ RBIS Pat Munn’s Japanese Import Smile Line Silenzio Sunshine Garsiv ( Imp Jpn) the BCC/BOS also went to Pat Munn with Ch Ringlands Special Gift. RBCC / BP awarded to William’s Sunlight Vision of Ringlands. BV was Mike and Pauline Debiniok’s CH Temelora Sun Dancer at Hollrexia and BPH Sue Morrell and Thesbina Teague’s CH Temelora Forset Nymph JW. Glenn presented each principal winner with a presentation gift bag of Arbonne products which each and every one of you will find amazing. Instant mirror make over.
Lastly Glenn would like to say a big thank you to the club for inviting him and to all the exhibitors for bringing their butterflies and moths along.
Well another week over and now on to Builth for SWKA. Goodness hate to say this but Christmas is creeping up on us with LKA fast looming on the horizon. Where did the year go?
Please send me in your news we all excited to hear of your successes at the shows. Until next week then, take care travelling on the roads.
