19 February 2016 – Our Dogs
What a lovely day out at the South of England Open Show this weekend. The drive to Chievely was so pleasant and the venue was in what can only be described as a charming example of an English Village.
We had two small halls, one for the ring with several rows of spectator chairs at one end. In this hall was the secretary, and stalls. Along with the kitchen that at lunchtime served the most delicious food all at very reasonable prices. In the second hall free tea, coffee and biscuits on a help yourself basis was available all day. A donation could be made and of course we all dropped coins into the box. In this hall we had plenty of room for our cages and trolleys.
There were a few newcomers to the breed along to take a look and they were made very welcome by all. The puppy walk was fun to watch and the three Maltese babies owned by Cathy and Gordon quite stole the show. I also love watching the junior handlers and we are lucky as a breed to have some very talented youngsters. Today the Osborne girls were out and competing in the JH classes. I have judged these two before and they are very dedicated and serious young ladies. Best Junior this time went to Bethany Osborne. The judge Christine Foynes looked very smart in a very stylish trouser suit and worked through her entry in a very efficient and pleasant manner. Also at this show notices were given out for the up and coming AGM with voting papers and also the seminar on worming and grooming. Carol Lee Slater is giving the grooming demonstration, so experienced and newcomer alike should pop along and watch this. The date is March 19th, nicely placed in between Crufts and UK Toydog Ch Shows. Details can be had from kirsty@metamorphicpapillons.com. It just leaves me to say a thank you to the committee for putting on a lovely day.
