20 January 2017 – Dog World

The first show of year Boston Championship Show has held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. I came across pictures on Boston’s Face Book page of the committee setting up. What a credit the pictures were to the committee, it looked professional and immaculately presented. They should be well proud of themselves.

Unfortunately we had to give the show a miss this year, so not a lot of little snippets of news came this way to Cheshire. Breed specialist Mrs Jenny Miller (Feorlig) had the task of judging the breed and I am sure she enjoyed every minute of going over the butterflies and moths who had braved the January weather.

DCC/ BOB went to Comrie-Bryant and Liz Anderson’s Frasermar Storm In The Snow, BCC to what have must have been a delighted Michele Buss with Ch Twiggy Cupcake JW and BP to Christine and Aidan Foynes and Ted and Mary Whitehill’s youngster Lafay Has The Last Word With Amicae. Chris I know was thrilled to bits, what an exciting day it must have been for them both, then also seeing her shortlisted in the TPGP. Very well done to all concerned. Sue & Jon Caton took the RDCC with Never Let Me Go Forussi At Hendrix (imp Pol) and Jill Varley with Ambre DoreBeata Bea At Coxleyview (imp) took the RBCC.

Lynn George-Evans had a good day at Heywood and Radcliffe Open Show where Jorgealin Moon Magic took a TGP1. The judges were Mary Cunningham and Jennifer Matches.

Sad news has been received that Lyn Richards of the Lynricks Papillons from Derbyshire passed away in mid-December. Lynn was a lovely lady many older members may remember Lyn as a true butterfly lover, active in the breed during the 80-90s. Lynn showed the Ibstock and Tussalud breed lines and was a close friend of Rosemary Ayris. Lyn was 76 but had been very ill for a long time and sadly in a nursing home in Burton on Trent for the past 10 years, she was a co-opted helper on the Pap club committee and often part of the extended team helping out at the shows in the Midlands. She never lost her love of the breed even when she had to give her last two dogs up when going into care. Condolences go to her family and friends.

All those who wish to be included on the Breed Council list, perhaps need to update your details or you may be eligible to move up the judges list please contact either a Breed Club Secretary or Mr Ted Whitehill, 117, Cheviot Road, Kirkcaldy, Fife, KY2 6BE as soon as possible.

Wendy Walters secretary of the Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon Club sends this important message: It is with great regret that we have to announce that following Kennel Club instructions, relating to historic issues, we are unable to hold our forthcoming open show, on the 5th of March. It is always a nice show to dust off the cobwebs prior to Crufts, but sadly this year it is not to be. We look forward to welcoming you all to our Championship Show in July, at Brodsworth, where we promise you a warm welcome and a great show. Thank you all for your understanding.

Very disappointing that the club are unable to have their March show, the club always gives 100% to ensure that the exhibitors and members enjoy their day. So this year we will just have to wait till July to experience once again their hospitality.

Good news from the club that they are holding a Breed Specific Seminar and Judging Competency Assessment on the 5th Feb 2017.Best get your skates on as there is only one place left, so if you wish to attend please contact Wendy Walters pronto on 0191 4883410 or email wendy.waters@sky.com. This event will be held at Finningley, Doncaster. The seminar will be presented by Mrs Ann Richardson and each candidate will receive a certificate of attendance. Guaranteed I am sure, it will to be a good day for all present learning about our lovely breed.

Just a heads up after Manchester Championship Show, Crufts entries close on line with Fosse Data on the 23rd Jan. This year we have a breed specialist Mrs Cathy Urquhart (Blackpark) taking the helm for judging our breed.

If the storms have thrown the book at you in your area, stay safe and be careful on the roads. Early icy mornings need the greatest of care.
