20 May 2016 – Dog World
The Birmingham National took itself into full swing at the Staffordshire County Showground. The weather was a mixed bag but on the Sunday which was the last day it was glorious. Went along with Glenn on the Sunday, the Afghans where outside so we could take full advantage of the sunshine. With having a leisurely day I could browse the stalls to my hearts content. Trade stands were both located outside and as usual on the balcony in the main hall. Such an assortment to see there was something there for everyone, even if you had no intentions of letting the moths out of the wallet. Have to admit that a few moths escaped out of mine. So, full credit to the stands for putting on such a varied day of shopping experiences. This show is always run so well, with every details performing like clockwork. The sound system can be heard clearly where ever you may be, so you are not stood scratching you head wondering , what did they say and then take the trek to the appropriate ring to check it out. All rings that I saw were of a super size with plenty of benching and grooming spaces available.
It was lovely to spend time with Chris and Aiden Foynes at the show as they were exhibiting. Chris the last few months has not been too well and I wish her all the best with her treatment in the coming months ahead. Chris is a very positive person and I am sure this will help enormously with the challenges that she may be presented with. Wishing you a bucket filled with only health, happiness and love Chris.
Today was a first time Papillon cc judging appointment for non breed specialist Mrs Norma Inglis (Craigowl), she had received an entry of 101 of which I sure she was pleased with. I found out at the show she originally came from Scotland, but now resides in Tyne and Wear and shows Cavaliers. The judging went smoothly along with the help of her most able stewards and Mrs Inglis went over the dogs in a kindly manner on the table.
The principal winners were as follows. DCC/BOB/TGP2 Joe Magri & Kevin Arrowsmith’s CH Rozamie Dream Lover. The TGP judge was Mr Luis Pinto Teixeira. BCC Alexandra Forth’s Ch Omegaville Make Me A Petitchien. For the RCC’s for the dogs it was Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Ger & Ir Ch Hundebuden’s Juno Pondabudens and the RBCC went to a delighted Lynn George-Evans with Jorgealin Moon Magic. BP was Tom Isherwood & Jenny Scovell’s Afterglow Lord Helpus, who then went on to take TPGP1 under Derek Smith. BV went to Connie Letch with Conysluck Master Pip. Congratulations to all the class and principal winners.
At Tunbridge Wells & DCS Gillian Obringer had to step in to judge the Papillon classes at the last minute as the judge was unable to make the show. She found her BOB to be Jones’s Vixipin Applejack who then went on to take TGP4 under Gillian Taylor.
An unsung heroes paragraph here, Robert Stuhldreer from Widowmaker Akitas and Japanese Akita Inus has kindly send me in details from the National Pet Show which was held at the ExCel in London on the 7th and 8th May. He has informed me that Pat Ross single-handedly covered the Papillon breed stand on both of these days, now that is something we should all be saying a big thank you. Thank you so much Robert for letting me know, this is a perfect example of how your news has highlighted someone’s generosity and time in doing something for our breed.
Enjoy the sunshine whilst it is here, the UK weather has a knack of nipping you in the heels and turning tail in a flash.
