23 September 2022 Breed Notes

Carrying on the next day from Paignton Championship Show on the Friday everyone trundled across country for a couple of hours to the double show for South of England Papillon Club. This year the shows were at the clubs usual venue of Tidworth Leisure Centre, Tidworth, Wiltshire.
One was a cancelled show because of Covid, hence the reason for two shows being held together.
The venue is a modern Leisure Centre and the hall is spacious and could take two decently sized rings easily. The committee under the helm of the secretary Rev Kirsty Wells must have worked so hard to get the show looking spick and span after being at Paignton the previous day. Hats off to everyone concerned for their commitment and hard work. The main table was adorn with beautiful rosettes.

Both judges arrived looking smart and ready for the day ahead. A good entry of over a 100 plus at each show, I should think the club was very pleased.
Show (A) was to be judged by Toy Specialist Mr Ian Sidgewick (Paulian) who of course is very well known with his wife Pauline for showing their Cavaliers and King Charles Spaniels.
Show (B) was to be breeds specialist Aiden Foynes (Lafay). This was Aidans first appointment for judging Challenge Certificates, so a very special day indeed.
Show (a) started with the dogs at 10 am followed by show (b) at 10.30am with the bitches. Invariably double shows always clash classes and this show did not disappointed with this happening a number of times with a few pregnant pauses along the way.

Ian Sidgwick started the day off with Ian’s wife Pauline acting as his very competent steward. All went smoothly along and the judge went over the dogs kindly and calmly on the table always ensuring that the exhibitors had plenty of space to manoeuvre around the ring.
The judges principal winners were as follows: DCC with BIS Irene and Glenn Robb’s CH Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy , BCC / RBIS Kirsty and Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smart Cookie, A delighted Sue Morrell taking BPIS/BPHIS with Athene Vom Schwabenhof, RBPIS Dee Olaf’s Tarnock Sweep the Board, BVIS Susie and Margaret Orchard’s Ringland Yoko’s Solo at Panspayon.
RDCC Kirsty and Evan Ryan and Kathleen Roosen’s Ch U Knock Me Off My Feet Daydream Believers with Feorlig (IMP BEL), RBCC Susie and Margaret Orchard’s Ringland Yoko’s Solo at Panspayon ShCM ShCEx VW.

On to show (b) where Aidan Foynes was well into the swing of things and seemed to be enjoying his judging. With the help of his attentive stewards who made sure all exhibitors were present for their classes, which is not an easy task with two shows running side by side it progressed at a steady speed. The judge went over the dogs methodically and carefully watched them strut their stuff around the ring.
The judge came to his decision for the principal winners and they were as follows. Taking a double BIS and DCC’s in one day, once again Ch Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy took the top spot. Needless to say Irene and Glenn Robb were delighted with how the day had gone and then to put the cherry on the cake Gleniren Daddy’s Starmaker was awarded BPIS.
Taking RBIS and RDCC was Chris and Bob Anderson’s Pappretty Grt Expectations, who I know were just thrilled to bits. BPHIS was Sue Morrell’s Athene Vom Schwabenhof, BVIS was Karen Maskell’s Kazkell Thyme to Dream. RBCC was Susie and Margaret Orchard’s Ch Panspayon Jewel of the Nile and the RBCC Kirsty and Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smart Cookie JW. RBPIS was Mary Whitehill’s Amicae Mr Chips.

Congratulations to everyone who had a good day and congratulations to the club for putting on two lovely shows.
