24 February 2017 – Dog World
The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club Open Show held its Feb Open Show at St Mary’s Church Hall, in Solihull. It is a pleasant venue just the right size for the show with a stage at the far end of the hall. The venue has good hard standing parking facilities. There is a generous kitchen area with tasty food was on supply all day long. The committee had worked hard to make sure all was in order for exhibitors with Ellie Mordecai smiling face greeting you on arrival. The raffle table was fit to bulging with many prizes on offer. it must have certainly been a success story with the lovely Ann Summerfield who is President of the club, raffle tickets in hand, making sure everyone didn’t miss out on the opportunity of winning a prize.
Mr Richard Haynes (Eburacum) who shows his lovely Yorkshire Terriers was the judge for this show and he arrived looking smart and ready for the day ahead of him. All went smoothly along with the help of the stewards and it was no time at all before lunch was on hand.
During the lunch break Miss Rhianna Brooks judged the Junior Handling, Brace and Special Classes. She also went over the puppies for their first experience in the puppy walk, always an entertaining moment of any show. Rhianna looked very smart for her judging, and it only seems like yesterday she was herself was competing in the junior handling ring. She went over the dogs in a kind gentle manner and conducted herself in the ring with conviction. Rhianna’s Junior Handler winner for the day was sixteen year old Cerys Lewis. You did a great job, well done Rhianna.
