This time of year with the flurry of shows in a concentrated bunch, an exhibitor spends more time going up and down motorways. The sensible ones, if you are lucky enough to own one, take the caravan or motor home and link the days in between as a holiday. For some exhibitors residing at either end of the country it can be exhausting. So well done on just surviving, I award you a TESG1, Travel Exhibitors Survival Group 1!

South of England Papillon Club had their annual Championship Show, held this year at Five Rivers, Salisbury. The show brought in a good entry of 103 and I am sure the hard working committee made sure you all had a wonderful day. The club has always ensured there is a pleasant atmosphere and does their utmost that the show goes smoothly. The good news at this venue, the café was open.

Well respected Dr Francis Yeoh took the helm and I am sure he enjoyed going over our lovely breed. Following quickly on the heels of SOE two days later saw exhibitors at Paignton Championship Show. Kevin Arrowsmith was judging Challenge Certificates for the breed for the first time. Here he found his winners to be; BCC /BOB Pat and Brian Cox’s Tricianbri Tuppence A Kiss JW. Congratulations to you both and your little one on a fabulous couple of shows. Liz also took the RDCC with Ch Frasermar Storm In The Snow. RBCC was Kirsty Wells and Amanda Brown’s homebred Metamorphic Fantasy. BV Sue Stanbury’s Inixia Delightful Dan JW Sh.CM.

Four days later with bucket and spades at the ready exhibitors find themselves at Bournemouth Championship Show. I believe the grass for the rings was very long so maybe it was seek and find your four paws. For this show well respected judge Mr Lee Cox (Vanitonia) was taking the helm. For BOB he found his winner to be Mary Whitehill and Pat Urwin’s Paparottsie Heart Beats At Amicae. I believe this was the magical third cc giving him the Champion crown. Congratulations to you both. BCC Caroline Lee-Slater’s Ch Jorgealin Cast A Spell For Kingshaven, BP Lee-Slater and Kewley’s Magic Sunrise Ace Ventura (Imp), RDCC Kirsty Miller and Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smarty Pants JW Sh.CM and RBCC Feorlig Wake Up Maggie JW. Mrs Liz Cartledge judged Best In Show at Paignton and who would have thought that at Welsh Kennel the night before the show she would be rushed into hospital. I am led to believe she is doing remarkably well and has been speaking to Di Johnson on the phone. Liz is a legend in the Dog World and such a down to earth lovely lady you could ever wish to meet. I wish you a speedy recovery Liz, positive thoughts are with you and I look forward to seeing you very soon back at the shows.

For the Open shows, Susan Lanson continues her success with her youngsters. At Carlisle & District CS the judges were Mrs A Bates (Kavenka) for the breed and for the group Mr David Craig (Davricard).
