25 December 2015 – Our Dogs

Many, many, congratulations to Irene & Robb who have ended the year with Travis standing NO1 TOP DOG ALL BREEDS. Ch Gleniren Starmaker Sunshoo took the DCC Best of Breed and Group 2 under Group Judge Tom Mather at LKA our last show of the season cementing his place as the UK’s TOP DOG. LKA always manages to embrace the spirit of Christmas, with cards being exchanged, present giving and party food. This year I was not showing which enabled me to take a walk around the rings and watch some of my other favourite breeds. In doing this you get an idea of what a visitor to the show experiences, the stalls where plentiful and doing a good trade with lots of options for last minute Christmas presents for humans and dogs alike. In the Papillon ring our judge Peter Jolley worked through his entry in a clam manner he found his winners for BEST OF BREED as already mentioned Irene & Glenn ROBB Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo; Best Puppy Tom Isherwood Afterglow Lord Helpus Naf Taf; Best Veteran Mr S & Mrs L Church & Miss C Rutten Multi Ch Powdermill Sweet Touch Spinillons (Re-Imp), Res Dog CC Tom Isherwood, & Mr E Da Silva Afterglow Mouseketeer, Bitch CC : Mr J Lynn, & Mr J Stone Ch Afterglow Adelaide, Res Bitch CC Mrs A J Williams) Sunlight Vision Of Ringlands. Well done to all!

Brian Lees was handing out copies of the latest Papillon (butterfly dog) Club Winter Newsletter, it was lovely to see the pictures on the front showing different activities our lovely breed gets upto. I bought a copy of the Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon |Club calendar for 2016 from Queenie Bruce priced at a reasonable £7.00. A very useful list of the 2016 shows with judges is on the last page. A lovely Christmas present stocking filler. I also picked up a copy of the South of England Papillon Club, Open Show schedule to be held on the 13th January 2016 at Chievely Recreation Centre Nr Newbury Berkshire, Judge Christine Foynes (Lafay). Entries close on Saturday 16th January. All the above can be obtained by going onto the relevant websites or FB pages.

Also at this show I picked up my copy of the Our Dogs Annual, a huge publication, I will comment on it next week but at first glance it looked stunning.

Petula Humphrey writes in she has had some good wins at a couple of Open Shows, so important to support our open show classes, a great training ground for our up and coming Championship show judges. At Ryhl Canine Society on the 8th November Caraideas The Extra Mile to Gloynbyw was BOB BPIB and TPG2 under judge Brenda Roberts. Then at Wrexham Canine Society her 11 year old Glynllifon Pocket Rocket at Gloynbyw went Best Toy Veteran under Judge Pauline Sidgwick.
