04 March 2022 Breed Notes

I hope everyone has been managing to cope with the various named storms that have been causing havoc up and down the country, then to add insult to injury battling the rain, snow and whatever else is being thrown at us. I think it is called a weather challenge; personally I would just like it all to do a hike!

Thought it would be good to get those diaries out and fill in the empty spaces for some of the breed shows for 2022.

Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon Club have their Open Show at Carlton on March 6th the judge will be Sharon Robson (Tidos). Their Championship Show for 2021 is hopefully going to coincide with Leeds Championship Show once again, The judge for the day is still to be confirmed as the judge that was originally judging the show has now to meet other commitments and therefore is unable to honour the appointment. So as soon as I know I will let you know. The 2022 show is usually held at Brodsworth however the club had the disappointing news that the venue was going to be unavailable due to the premises being condemned. No doubt houses will be built on the site. I am sure Wendy Walters the secretary of the club has everything in hand and like magic will wave her magiiic wand and all will be good. So watch this space.

The Butterfly Dog Club of Scotland has its Open Show on the 27th February at Alva. The judge will be Jude Reyes (Queenslake) and entries are now closed. The clubs Championship Show in May will be at Lanark on 21st May the judge will be James Newman from Ireland. The show is the day before Toy Day at SKC. Schedules for this show will be out by the end of February. The November Open Show which is held at Alva is on the 27th Nov and will be judged by Petula Humphreys (Glaynbyw). Elaine Davidson is the clubs secretary

The South of England Papillon Club Championship Shows for both 2020 and 2022 are being held together. The venue is Tidworth Leisure Centre on Sat, 6th August. The 2020 judge is breed specialist Aidan Foynes (Lafay) and the 2022 judge is toy specialist Ian Sidgewick. The show is the day after Toy Day at Paignton Championship Show. Kirsty Wells is the clubs secretary.

At St Helens & District Canine Open Show Carl Cooper had a good day taking BOB with Wilachans Oli and BP with Wilachans Bindie the judge was Janet Heap. Very well done on your successful day.

At Newark & District Canine Society Open Show it was a freezing cold day and everyone present did their best to keep themselves and four paws warm. Mr Jeff Luscott was judging the breed. BOB went to Jane Thompson and Sandra Austin’s Polaris Plyus Juvenal at Jhanakia, RBOB McGrath’s Elfuago Dfor and BP /TPG1 Kirsty Miller & Evan Ryan’s Feorlig Say It With Flowers. The Toy Group judge was Suzanne Santoriello (Noiratan) and BIS Jeff Luscott (Jalus). Congratulations to everyone for enduring the element of cold.
Just received brilliant news from Aidan Foynes to say that he has received the Kennel Club Veteran Warrant certificate for Travelling By Moonlight To Amicae aka Johnny. His final four points were put on hold until the shows resumed. He finally was awarded his four points at Maghull & Merseyside Show last December under the judge Roberta Wright. Johnny was at that time 15 years and one month of age. How amazing is that, the lovely Chris, Aidan’s late wife would have been thrilled to bits and so proud of them both. Well done Aidan you should be so proud of yourself.

So, with Crufts travelling at the speed of light towards us the early and late times for the toys are as follows. Papillons are as usual in Hall 5, ring 29 and the judge will be Miss Kitty Sjong (Denmark). Veteran Dog kicks of the day.
