The Butterfly Papillon Club held their Championship at The Kennel Club Buildings at Stoneleigh and the sun was apparently shining brightly. Here Tom Mather (Barkalots) was judging the dogs and Carolyn Roe (Sunshoo) the bitches. Caroline Lee- Slater was judging Best Fringes, Junior Handling and was referee for the day. It was of course a special day for the juniors present as it was the presentation of the winners for the Papillon Junior handler of the Year Awards. Karen Maskell is the administrator for the awards and soon as I receive the results of the winners I will include them in the notes.

Congratulations and our thanks must go to Karen on running the awards this year, I know from running the awards in previous years it is not always an easy task.

For the days judging of the sexes exhibitors had two of the most experienced Toy judges in the canine world, both always very calm and considerate in their thought process, both having a love of the Papillon breed. So bearing this in mind everyone would I am sure have had a special day whether watching or exhibiting.

Chris Anderson had taken the helm for the first time for the club trade stand, from pictures I have seen a first class job was done. Congratulations.

The principal winners for the show were decided by the main judges and they were as follows: Liz Anderson had a glorious day taking the DCC and BIS with Ch Frasermar Storm In The Snow, Pat Munn was overjoyed too with taking BCC /BOS/ RBIS with Ringlands Treasure Sunshine. Best fringes, judged by Caroline Lee- Slater was Kay Stewart & Kirsten Stewart-Knight’s Ch Denemore Story’s Echo at Tussalud. Caroline Lee- Slater found her Best Junior handler to be Niamh Nash.

In lunch break was The Junior Handler of The Year Awards, A puppy walk, always a delight to watch and the Clubs Annual Awards for 2017.

Congratulations to everyone who picked up an award but also congratulations to all those that may have been in the running. I hope that Brian Lees will send me the other placements and points for the league table as it will be nice to give praise to those that were so close, they should not be unsung participants. I also hope to give you a rundown on how the criteria for the awards is calculated giving you a chance to set yourself a goal in the months to come.
