27 September 2024 Papillon Breed Notes
Boston Championship Show held at the Rutland Showground, Oakham. It was their first show at this venue after taking the date over from the East of England. The committee under the wing of Leila Tarabad put on a spectacular show, everything was pristine with clear directions when entering the showground where to go. Mea Kendall was in charge of the catalogues tent and you were greeted with a cheery smile and positivity, such a good way to start the day. The committee members were super helpful on every account and couldn’t do enough to make sure everyone were happy.
What a brilliant idea having folders on each judges/ stewards table showing the ring and class being judged. A simple addition but a great help to everyone. How many times do we ask someone at a show ‘what class is this’?
For this show a breed specialist was taking the helm for Paps. Kirsty Wells of the Metamorphic affix was giving challenge certificates in the breed for the first time, a special day ahead indeed. The judging started slightly later as there were traffic holdups, however the day commenced and continued smoothly with the guidance of the judge’s very capable stewards keeping things moving along.
The judge was gentle on the table and meticulous in her judging throughout the day.
The principal winners were as follows. BOB/ TGP2 Glenn Robb and Asta Gudbergsdottir’s Ch/multi Ch Fashion First High Priority (imp). The Toy Group judge was John Purnell (Yikasown). BPIB Caroline Lee-Slater’s Graycaz Etienne, BCC Mary Whitehill’s Amicae Bright Spark, BV Gill Geary’s Taliesyn Black Walnut, Best Special Beginners Mr R Bartlam’s Struck Gold at Melangel. For the RCC’s, the RDCC went to Mandy Keown’s Keomandi Fly Me to The Moon JW and the RBCC Sue Morrell’s Johnasta Georgia for Temelora.
Next week will give you the success of the North East of England Toy Dog Society Championship Show. Under such adverse weather conditions they were not deterred and pulled out all the stops, making it a show many will remember as the highlight of the year.
Everyone take care going to the shows. Sunshine has been ordered but there may be a delay in deliveries!
