28 December 2018 – Breed Notes

The final Championship Show for 2018 has been done and dusted and so the show year reaches its climax. This year situated in different NEC halls all LKA exhibitors headed for the North Car Park. Carolyn Roe (Sunshoo) our long standing partner was at the venue on Toy Day judging the Pomeranians, and she reported that the weather threw torrential rain, cold winds at everyone. So I am sure it was not an easy walk to the halls for all the exhibitors.

From posts I have seen the Christmas jumpers were worn with abundance and celebration parties were in full swing. LKA is such a happy show with everyone in high spirits and good wishes.

The trade stands at LKA would have been giving of their best, as they have done all year long. It isn’t easy taking the stands to all the shows from one end of the country to the other; we must really commend the trade folk for making their wares available to us throughout the year. Sometimes we tend to forget the effort that has been put in to giving us the luxury of everything on tap for our convenience shopping experience. So thank you to everyone working on the stands and making many folks lives that little bit easier.

For LKA the judge was Mrs Lorraine Gillhespy of the Lorphi King Charles Spaniels and Cavaliers King Charles. The principal winners for the day were as follows. DCC/BOB Kirsty Miller and Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smarty Pants JW Sh.CM. Their successful day continued taking the RBCC/BP with Feorlig Smart Cookie. Susie and Margaret Orchard must have been thrilled to bits taking the BCC with Ringland Yoko’s Solo At Panspayon Sh.CM. Congratulations of course to her breeder Pat Munn. For the RDCC it was Sue Morrell’s Temelora Let It Be Magic JW and finally BV Julie Clint’s Ch Papplewick Preacher Man JW Sh.CM. Congratulations also to all the exhibitors taking placements on the day.

It has been a difficult time here at Gleniren this month as a little legend within the Papillon history books left our kennel to become a star, shining brightly in the sky. I mention this little girl Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses (Starlet) because she was so exceptional during her show career and was the epitome of the true butterfly. So many Papillon folk loved this little ‘four paws’. Starlet during her show career amassed 43cc’s, took the BCC at Crufts for 2007 and 08 and held the acclaim of Top Puppy 2005 and Top Papillon for four consecutive years (2006/07/08/09). Starlet was the Papillon Breed CC Record Holder from 2009- 2016 when she handed the baton over to her kennel mate Travis, Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo. Starlet remains to be the Bitch CC Record Holder. Glenn, Carolyn and I will miss this sweet little lady and we are proud that she will always have her place in the Papillon Archives as a legend in our breed.

So, as the New Year approaches I hope many of you will be able to reflect on your 2018 year and smile with gratitude and have that warm feeling inside that your ‘four paws’ gave you a million dreams. May those dreams continue for everyone during the coming year. Dreams are there to be made, so go out and find yours, I know I will be following mine right to the end of 2019. https://papillonnet.co.uk/wp-admin/post-new.php
