28 July 2023 – Papillon Breed Notes
Exhibitors trundled off to The Three Counties Championship Show which is held at Three Counties Showground, Malvern. As is most times in this area the weather is mixed and you can watch the sky change within a blink of the eye. For this day it stayed dry so that was a blessing.
A spacious ring outside but the ground was less desirable with divots and potholes not making it easy for both judge and exhibitors.
The judge for the day was toy specialist Mr Eddie Bishop who arrived looking smart and ready for the day ahead. I think the judge would have preferred to have used the ring allocated inside but he gave the choice to the exhibitors for the final decision and that was to stay outside.
The day went smoothly along with the help of the judges competent stewards. It was only at the completion of judging that Mr Bishop unfortunately fell quite heavily and cut his head on the ground. Medics were called and it was a relief to see Mr Bishop eventually being helped to his feet, obviously shaken but able to be assisted to the ambulance. It was a relief to see Mr Bishop later sat on the veranda recovering from his ordeal. I went over to ask if he was okay and he said he was.
The principal winners for the day were as follows. BCC/ BOB/ BV Helen Walsh’s Jorgealin Moonstar at Purepixie, RBCC/ BP with TPGP4 Irene & Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Oops I Did It Again Sunshoo. Mr Stuart Payne was the Toy Puppy Group judge. DCC Kirsty and Evan Ryan, Kathleen Roosen’s Ch U Knock Me Off My Feet Daydream Believers with Feorlig (Imp Bel). RDCC Ann Borg’s Elendil Crusader with Sue Stanbury handling. Congratulations to everyone and wishing Mr Bishop future good health.
In the butterfly poorly sick update corner we have some people that I would like to mention.
Alan Bartram (Burghbridge) has had some very rough months and it has been extremely difficult for both Alan and Liz. Alan has been in the Teaching Hospital since February, there have been many good days and so many bad days. The medical staff now seem to have his medication under control and the next step is to build up muscle mass to resume and restore mobility. Alan has now been moved to St Oswald Hospice in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. It is renowned as a great rehabilitation centre. Gaining his mobility is a key factor for him being able to return home. Liz tells me they had a lovely weekend watching live streaming their grandson Taigh being presented with his doctors’ degree, a very special moment. Alan we are wishing you well on your journey back to some normality, I know Liz is longing for the day you are both together at home.
Jean Banfield (Kingshaven) has had a major twelve hour operation and has been through a very rough time. Hopefully things are improving each day and will continue to do so. Many weeks of recovery ahead but if anyone can do it, it is Jean. The address for Jean is Castle Hill Hospital, Ward 11, Room 8, Castle Rd, Cottingham, HU16 5JQ.
Please, if you can spare a moment nip out to the shops and buy a get well card for Alan and Jean. I am sure it would boost their spirits knowing that folk are thinking of them during these difficult times.
If you know of anyone else that needs a mention please contact me?
Until next time take care and enjoy your shows.
