28 June 2019 Breed Notes
The weather was kind to Blackpool Championship Show after the continual wet weather we had experienced the week before. As always every detail for the show had been put in place by the hard working committee with Stevie Hall at the helm. Such a good array of trade stands to browse on all boundaries of the showground. So wherever your ring might have been, a trade stand was close at hand. Refreshment stands were also a plenty with a wide variety of choice. The BIS marquee looked a picture of importance and all was running like clockwork.
Toy day was on the first day of the show and the sun kept showing itself and was very warm when the wind dropped. But it stayed dry, now that has to be an achievement in itself!
For the Papillons we had an FCI judge from Norway Mr Arne Foss, judging our breed for the first time, so a new experience for him and most of the Papillon exhibitors. One of which I hope he enjoyed. He found his principal winners to be: DCC/BP/BOB Tom Ishwerwood’s Stagedoor Calico. A first time out for this ten and half month old puppy entered in Junior so I am sure all concerned were delighted. He later went on to be awarded TJGP1 under Mike Vincent and BJBIS under Ken Sinclair. Well done to everyone. BCC Kirsty Miller and Evan Ryan’s Feorlig Smart Cookie, I believe the third cc, so congratulations on her UK title. RDCC Caroline Lee- Slater and Kewley’s Magic Sunrise Ave Ventura (imp LTV). RBCC for these same owners with Magic Sunrise Believe In Me (imp LVA) Lovely achievement for our Jenson (Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy) who at eight months was considered for one of the principal dog awards.BPB Carol Lees Lafford Golden Child.
Irene and Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy won the Eukanuba Puppy Stakes overall for the day and returned on the last day for the final, taking the runner- up spot under well respected judge Geoff Corish. Thus, repeating his Runner-up award from Southern Counties.
Congratulations to all the class winners and those receiving placement cards at the show, this is a major achievement in itself.
At Derby County Show Carol Lees took BPIB with their youngster Lafford Golden Child under Petula Humphries and TPGP3 under Peter Morby, very well done.
I took Jenson out for the day out at Ruthin Canine Society what a lovely venue, held at Llangolen Pavillion. Plenty of grooming areas and the rings were so spacious. Such a well run show that had received a huge entry exceeding 800 dogs. This was the clubs twenty fifth anniversary so a special day for them. The Papillons had a lovely entry, as did all the toy breeds so hugely encouraging. Breed specialist Nadia Anghard Ali-Bazi was judging the breed and awarded Irene and Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy BP/ BOB. Later awarded TGP1 and TPGP1 It was so encouraging seeing all the breeds stayed for the Toy Group and Toy Puppy Group, the ring was full to capacity of quality exhibits. The Toy Group judge Claire Bayne (Clanscot) must have thoroughly enjoyed going over all the dogs.
For those going to Windsor take car travelling as this is not always the best journey.
