So, bucket and spades at the ready as many exhibitors were on their jollies to Blackpool Championship Show. A lot of exhibitors take their caravans or motor homes for a relaxing week leading up to show days. Blackpool committee take great pride in making things right for the exhibitors and the grounds looked lovely.
Glenn went on Toy Day with Imogen our little fluff ball Pom and I went along on the Sunday with Glenn as Imogen had taken the CC/ BOB under well respected toy specialist Mr Tony Allcock MBE and won the Junior TGP under Mr Siguard Wilberg. So it was just a thrilling show for us personally. On the Sunday it gave me chance to browse the many trade stands and also take in the glorious sunshine before the Best In Show Junior final.
Glenn mentioned that on Toy day the winds got up and Blackpool became Mary Poppins style with sun umbrellas taking into the sky and in one ring all the prize cards and Challenge certificates ascended to the sky to a great height. Blackpool is known for mischievous winds rearing their heads; many years ago I remember litter bins taking off in a mad frenzy. So, perhaps when Blackpool comes around again the purchase of anchors for the brollies might be advisable.
For the Papillon judging it was a first time challenge cc experience for Miss Kirsten Stuart-Knight (Tussalud) and she certainly had sunshine weather all the way. From the pictures I have seen looking lovely in a summer outfit of dress and jacket. The principal winners for the day were as follows: BCC/BOB Stagedoor Barbie owned by Tom Isherwood and Jenny Scovell, DCC Kevin Sharp-Dixon, Jude Reyes and Jason Lynn’s Afterglow Adonis for Queenslake. I believe this was the magical third cc so huge congratulations, I am thrilled for you all. BP was Sue Stanbury’s Inixia Ever Ready Eddie who also went on to take a very nice TPGP3 under Bert Easdon. RDCC was a delighted Susan Lanson with her homebred Cantoverde Captain Casper who also took Best Junior. RBCC was Liz Anderson’s CH/Am CH Clearlake Clovis at Northlyte. Congratulations to all the principal and class winners.
On the Open Show front Michele Buss had a good day at Eastbourne & DCS taking BOB with her homebred Flutura’s Something Special under judge Sharon Samson. Unfortunately Michele was unable to stay for the group judging. Michele’s little chi also took BOB, so a good day all round for her, congratulations.
