31 July 2021 Breed Notes

The shows are back in full swing with a busy Papillon showing weekend with two shows on one day, kicking off first with Leeds Championship and then Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon Club following straight on after.
For Leeds the breed judge was breed specialist Mrs Jenny Edson, Toy Group Robert Dunlop, Toy Puppy Group Tom Mather, Toy Group Spec Beg Mrs Irene McManus and Toy Veteran Mark Cocozza. As it was one of the hottest weekends for this year and I guess everyone was making sure their four paws kept out of the sun as much as possible and the two legs headed for the ice cream van.

What a truly magical day for both cc winners. BOB and DCC was Sue Morrell’s Phalene Serenglade Leap Of Faith For Temelora. It has been a long time since a UK male Phalene has taken this award, so huge congratulations Sue. For the BCC it was Mary Whitehill’s Papmar Moonlight Missabeat who gained the accolade of her third CC. The bitch was sired by one of Mary’s dogs so congratulations to her breeder Mary Mooney and Mary Whitehill.
The RDCC went to Joan Savage with Bankshill Chasing Dreams with Abbeyton, What a great return to the ring after a long break, very well done Joan. RBCC and BPIB went to Mrs S Stone’s Tonkory Waiting In The Wings who also had the excitement of taking TPG4 under Tom Mather.

Following on for the day, Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon took charge for their 29th Championship Show. There was an entry of 88 dogs making 100 entries with 2 nfc. Both judges were breed specialists judging Challenge Certificates for the first time. Judging dogs was Jacqueline Hill and for the bitches Kirsty Wells. The Referee was well respected breed specialist Queenie Bruce.
DCC was Gill Breen’s Kylecroft Quest and the referee was called to award and decide for BIS. Gill must over been over the moon to take BIS with her dog. A double BCC for one day went to Mary Whitehill’s Papmar Moonlight Missabeat who also took RBIS. Caroline Lee Slater took the award of BMPIS and BPIS with Graycaz Oh La La and Mary Whitehill and Pat Urwin took BPD with Amicae Master of Arts. BPHIS was Karen Maskell and Maxine Waller’s Lilnrose Ears Looking at you Kazkell and BVIS Karen Maskell’s Kazkell Just a Dreamer JW. For the RCC’S it was RDCC Iotastar Great Adventure owned by Ms J D Mowatt & Mr C Mowatt and RBCC Lafford Golden Child JW) owned by Carol Lees.

A few Papillon folk are in the poorly corner at present. Let’s wish them all a speedy recovery and send our very best wishes.

Sandra Austin has had a nasty fall and broken her arm. Unfortunately this happened to Sandra whilst she was in the dog room when Jane was out. It wasn’t until Jane had got back that Sandra was found on the floor. After a few days Sandra was back in hospital quite poorly, this must be a very stressful time for Sandra and her daughter Jane, I am sure everyone is wishing her a speedy recovery.
Brian Lees has returned home again after having heart surgery and hopefully is now on the road to recovery. I suspect Carol has her nurse’s uniform on and she has Brian well and truly organised.
Carolyn Lee Slater was taken to hospital at Southern Counties Show and we hope she is now rested and recovered.
Rosemarie Hobson’s husband was taken to hospital suddenly but I believe he has now returned home.

Dee Wilkinson of Deecrest Papillons has sadly passed away. Condolences to her close friends and family.

Take care travelling to the shows and most of all enjoy the day.
