Critique

Really nice entry of quality dogs, I really thank the exhibitors greatly for supporting this show, given the last minute change of Date and Venue, in a busy show calendar.
I was very disturbed at the lack of body on some of the exhibits, appearing very undernourished and extremely boney, bordering almost on emaciated, few had much muscle at all- reflected often in weak movement, and repeatedly I saw incorrect LEVEL bites, the standard clearly states SCISSOR bite, sadly breeding from stock with incorrect jaws can only exacerbate the dental problems in the breed, but I was delighted with my BD & BB kennel mates, they are everything I could have hoped for.

Minor Puppy dog (3,1abs)
1. Gornall’s Tinklebury Wild William – very raw baby, b/w, very small fine and dainty butterfly, full of himself, nice round eye, sweet expression, good sized & placed ears, well proportioned head, very nice type- has it all to come. BMPD & RBPD.

2. Colyers’s Inixia Miracle in Time- larger sized b/w, more mature with excellent coat for age, large mobile ears, very full in foreface at the moment, needs time, not the eye set or expression of 1.

Puppy dog (5,2)
1. Mann’s Melangel Pied Piper- wow, what a boy! Most striking youngster of 10 months, superb shape and confirmation, correct depth of rib, one of the few with a totally correct jug handle tail, superb reach of neck, heavily marked & coated b/w, very heavily fringed ears, well set on good head, slightly keen expression, after has finished cutting his teeth & his ears firm up will settle into a really top notch dog, level topline, moves correctly, stands a little wide behind but should improve with age! Very promising; pushed hard for top slots. BPD,BPIS.

2. Richards & Ayris’ Bankshill Isle of Dreams- well chubby little chap, super head and expression, nice round eye, in very good coat for age, very well put down, needs time and training!

Junior dog (11,3)
1. Edson’s Rozamie Myths ‘N’ Majic to Novastar. Very heavily marked and coated tri with a super level topline, good size, correct hocks, good straight legs, nice depth of rib, lovely ears, well set and used, moves well, good tail set and well carried plume, appeals greatly in profile for body, neck and outline, but rather full & heavy in foreface for his size.

2. Borg’s Elendil Classic Endeavour, most elegant type, very fine all through, super coat, texture and presentation, gentle dog with a lovely sweet expression, well balanced ;very pleasing correctly proportioned head, lacking body condition and weight, level topline well carried tail.

Yearling Dog (7,0)
1.Dutton’s Penang So The Story Goes, Larger sized tri, very well balanced and finished body, level topline, well bodied, firm rib, very good tail set, very positive mover, well filled foreface if a shade long. good sized and set ears. pleasing outline.

2.Bartrams’ Burghbridge Black Shadow – finer type, lovely headed tri, very well trained and superbly presented, lovely coat, super head and finely tapering foreface, good round eye- nice expression- good harefeet. Very pleasing dainty dog.

Maiden dog(5,1)

1. Mann’s Melangel Pied Piper
2. Edson’s Rozamie Myths ‘N’ Majic to Novastar, , lost out on head qualities to 1.

Novice dog (6,1)
1.Edson’s Rozamie Myths ‘N’ Majic to Novastar
2. Borg’s Elendil Glint of Copper- R/w, moves quite well at the correct pace, needs more body, good topline on the move, head handles quite well, but very strong in cheeks and lacking sweetness of expression, well set ears, good coat, very well presented.

Graduate dog (6,1)
1.Roberts & Smith’s Rosaday Quorum at Rayol, Phalene, with solid body, good head and the sweetest of expressions. Lovely coat and presentation, level topline, well balanced pleasing foreface, well carried and set tail, nice positive mover.

2.McGrath’s Lynbank Smartie Jones- b/w dog, lovely size, good length of leg and depth of rib, nice turn of stifle, excellent hocks, good topline and tail set, parallel moving going away, super harefeet. Finely pointed foreface, losing colour around the eye and face which detracts from expression somewhat, totally out of coat, well set ears and correct skull, nice honest dog.- lacking furnishings- well handled.

Postgraduate dog(4,0)

  1. Orchard’s Panspayon Lucky Jim, b/w dog of lovely balanced body, excellent mover, well honed and muscled, level topline, good tailset, nice head, correct eye and ear set, pleasing foreface, very good length of stride, masculine without any coarseness, coat and presentation let him down a little today.

2.Coughlan’s Paupad Fine and Dandy, this r/w dog fits his name, fine and a real dandy, very well fringed large mobile ears, very fine all through if a little feminine in outlook for me, good length of stride, lovely correct hare feet.

Mid Limit Dog (5,1)

  1. Borg’s Elendil San Michele- super type which epitomises the standard for me,first class b/w, lovely topline, long tail, well plumed & carried, good depth of rib. Well angulated back and front, correct harefeet .neat true mover, superb head, fine foreface, flat smooth cheeks, lovely round eye with soft expression, large well set ears, heavily fringed, a real picture. Masculine without being either coarse or too feminine, really quality dog who should achieve all, to be critical, tail set(root) could be a touch higher and he needs firmer body condition, but a lovely dog. BD/BOS.
  2. McGrath’s Tinklebury The Fusillier
-very unfortunate to meet 1, superbly built body, b/w, really well let down behind and well muscled and carrying some good coverage unlike most, good level topline, true mover, spot on for masculinity and size, good head, nice round eye, excellent tail carriage, just totally out of coat –was a serious challenger for RBD.

Limit Dog (6,1)
1.Austin & Thompson’s Jhanakia IceMan, Very glamorous boy with well ribbed body, correct level topline both standing and on the move, good length of leg, excellent rear angulation, well muscled thigh, very nicely balanced body, good harefeet, correct jug tail, lovely set ears, correct round eye, good foreface, preferred the sweetness of head of BD.

2.Letch’s Conys’Luck Master Pip- r/w boy of lovely type, super round eye, finely tapering fore face, good ear set and size, true mover, nice quality dog. Correct bite.

Open Dog (11,2)

  1. Bartrams’ Burghbridge UR Solid Gold Skyvana JW SchCM
This r/s/w boy is just so glamorous and handsome he fills the eye. Superbly presented, exceptionally well schooled and handled, lovely topline, parallel hocks standing and on the move, in fabulous coat- surprisingly fine body under the coat, super ear set and lovely balance of head & soft expression, good depth of rib and length of leg – a worthy champion,. Would like to see him with a little more body .RBD
  2. Borg’s Elendil Rob Roy- my notes say.-Lovely dog, excels in breed type ;exceptionally nice ears but let down by movement & attitude today.

Veteran Dog (3,1)
1.Farrell’s Bluejays Shadow Warrior, b/w boy full of verve and voice, nice type, finely pointed foreface, good round clear eye; has not developed any coarseness with age, very finely boned, good hocks, in good single silky coat, very attentive to handler, eager mover.
2.Stamp & Barber’s Charmont Tommy Tucker- heavier type
lovely balanced dog, very parallel mover going away; good topline, thicker boned all through, good head and dark eye, strides out well for age, profuse coat, well carried tail, very soundly constructed. Excellent body condition for his age.

Open Phalene dog (4,0)

  1. Roberts & Smith’s IR CH Serenglade Flag Ship by Rayol b/w heavily coated strongly made dog, solid body, excellent topline, fuller head and foreface, good round dark eye, correctly carried tail, strides out well. Well fringed ears, correctly folded. Good mouth, Good honest dog. BPhD/BPhIS.
  2. Morrell & Teague’s Ups and Downs Jolly Jerome for Temelora
Very heavily marked r/s/w juvenile dog, totally different type, longer on the leg, much more rangey type, up to size but finer boned, very level topline and good jug tail set, very immature yet, nicely moulded skull and head, well set continental style ears, Finely pointed if rather long foreface, could mature into interesting dog.

Minor Puppy bitch (4,1)

  1. Morrell & Teague’s Temelora Golden Girl, well bodied, r/w with well set rib, nice head shape, short nose, lovely clear attractive coat, good eye shape, level topline, jauntily carried jug tail even though rather low set. Well let down behind, promising pup.
2.Porter’s Resolutebay Erica, r/w with longer leaner head type, has the longest tail, well set, jug handle, narrow based ears carried very high on top of head, nice body shape and neat mover.
  2. Miller’s Feorlig Hidden Treasure

Puppy bitch (3,0)

  1. Gornall’s Tinklebury Polly Peanut, Very feminine b/w, good ribs and well set and carried tail, level topline, well angulated shoulder and rear, good length of stride, flat single coat of good texture, correctly proportioned head, fine foreface, eye of good shape, well sized and set ears. Promising puppy who needs better training BPB,RBPIS
2.Shortland’s Ellesangel Atlanta Ace, Pretty b/w with the sweetest of heads, very fine foreface and very feminine outlook, superbly schooled, and well handled, nice level topline, good tail set, rather rangey yet and long on the leg, very fine boned and narrow ribbed, lacking coat and furnishings, but no doubt will come. Neat mover.

Yearling Bitch( 2,0)

  1. Coughlan’s Paupad Revelation JW, Very feminine bitch of nice size, appealing colour and type, presented in lovely coat and condition, super hare feet .lovely dark eye & expression, although beautifully fringed ear of good placement would prefer more rounder ear. Parallel mover going away,

2.Price’s Burghbridge URA Golden Girl , bigger r/w, although lovely front shoulder angulation a little narrow coming towards, lost out in femininity and in light eye to 1,. But better level topline both standing and on the move, in good coat, super presentation

Maiden bitch (3,2)

  1. Mann’s Sarasate Shaboom over Melangel

Novice bitch (4,1)
1.Goodwin’s Temelora Magic Affair r/w, Sensible larger sized dual purpose bitch of quality, fabulous build and by far the best toned and muscled body of the day, superb rear muscle tone and second thigh-totally lacking in the majority of exhibits, lovely let down rear and front angulation, good depth of rib with plenty of heart room, very sound, large round expressive intelligent dark eye, large well set and prettily fringed ears, lovely head pattern, excellent drive going away and strong topline. super bitch who would be an asset to any kennel. Lee’s Matura Miss Moneypenny, Pretty feminine r/s/w of nice size with really dark eye, and finely pointed foreface, strong rib, good length of loin. correct straight hocks and parallel moving, good front angulation leading to well muscled neck. 2.Miller’s Feorlig Unforgetable Ella- Pretty shorter coupled bitch with good depth of rib, level topline, well carried tail, in better coat but not the neck or front angulation of 1. pleasing head and foreface

Mid Limit Bitch (7,1)
1.Borg’s Elendil Solveig- EXQUISITE b/w totally feminine bitch with a head and ears and expression to die for. Fits the standard and fills my eye! The best round eye and expression of the day. Lovely head merging smoothly into beautifully balanced body, presented in lovely condition and super coat, everything fits the bill. Like her kennelmate BD a lovely example of the breed . Has all the essentials and more, top quality – eye/ears/fringing, hare feet, coat, plume, movement and temperament. Sympathetically handled to advantage BB/BIS,

2.Wright’s Tinklebury Silly Milly – soundly made small feminine clear r/w unlucky to meet 1, very pretty head of good balance, smooth foreface, expressive eye, well muscled and nice front angulation and neck, well schooled and good mover, sound as a pound but lacking the finishings of 1.

Limit Bitch (7,2)
1.Foster’s Lorah’s Blissful,- larger sized r/s/w mature looking bitch with strong rib, very well balanced skull and smooth flat cheeks, little full in foreface but fits the overall balance. Large ears with heavy curtain fringing. Long silky coat and very long well plumed & carried tail, excellent muscle tone and well developed second thigh, strong neck, super round dark expressive eye- jerky handling of her lead detracts from any smooth movement coming towards, but is parallel going away.
