Papillon Club of Scotland May Championship Show 2025
17th May 2025
Judge: Mrs Irene Robb
The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club at Lanark takes you back to how breed shows once where. Full of atmosphere and bringing together exhibitors who love the breed and just want to be amongst likeminded people. Congratulations to the secretary Elaine Davidson and to everyone on the committee, as they each gave one hundred per cent commitment. The venue is spotless, shared with the Scottish Pomeranian Club, which works perfectly. The club makes this event special, so beautifully set out and a great trade stand of quality bedding with the courtesy of Liz Anderson. The raffle table was full to the edges of the table and a £50 spot prize for one lucky exhibitor. First impressions it is a happy show, just as it should be. My thanks to Ted Whitehill who was my steward for the day and kept things moving along. You were a joy to be with. The exhibitors and dogs had a challenging weekend with SKC’s two championship shows the day before. We all know how two shows in a day can be exhausting let alone having one the following day. Thank you for attending. Grit and determination is what dog folk do best! Some of the dogs were a little lack luster at times which was totally understanding. Well done to the four paws and the exhibitors for putting on such polished performances. Thank you to the club for a wonderful day and being so kind to present me with a beautiful crystal bowl, one I shall treasure.

At this point slightly stronger in head but he is in the middle of his growing stage but coming along nicely. When on the move showed a good tail set and level topline.
2nd: Mr G & Mrs E Davidson’s Northlyte Silver Surfer 4mths. First time in the ring for this little one and quickly grew in confidence. Has a pretty head with a dark expressive eye. Moved well and has a nice connection with handler.
Baby Puppy Bitch (2)
1st: Mrs M Whitehill’s Northlyte Under Boardwalk. 4 mths B/W. An eye catching shape when stood, allowing this to show off a level top line and good reach of neck. She has a pretty head with good markings, well set ears and dark eyes. Moved around the ring with confidence and showing a lot ring presence at such a young age. Handled well and sympathetically, getting the very best out of this little one. Looks like a bright future could be ahead. Best Baby Puppy In Show.
2nd: Mrs E & Miss K Anderson’s Northlyte Phoenix Rising. 4mths Tri. Litter sister to first placing with similar shape and qualities. She has a nicely marked head. Moved well around the ring and performed extremely well for one so young. Both lovely puppies it will be exciting to see how they mature.
Veteran Dog (4) (1a)

Minor Puppy Dog (2)
1st: Mrs A Pinder’s Feyetas Love Me In The Dark at Starmarla CW2025. 8 mths. Solid head colour and smaller in size. At present narrower in head. Well set ears with attractive expression. When stood showed straight front. He coped very well today. Just needs time to body up and mature, there then will be a different picture.
2nd: Miss E Edwards’s Lastayla Playful Pongo. 7 mths Tri. Has an attractive expression. Larger in size at present. He is in good coat for his age with a nicely carried tail. Put on a good performance.

Yearling Dog (2)
1st: Mrs D Olof’s Ch Tarnock Wiggle Giggle JW. 20mths B/W. He is an attractive boy, who showed himself off with attitude when on the move. Well schooled on the table. Correct head and muzzle length, framed by good fringing and a dark expressive eye. Good lay of shoulders, leading to straight front. Deep chest and tuck up. Has a level topline. Showed a good reach of neck which he carried elegantly on the move. Profuse plume of tail which he carried correctly when moving around the ring, he then certainly looked the picture. He is a dog that the handler has to continually give all their attention. This the handler did, thus making the dog show off all it attributes to the full. A very well deserved DCC.
2nd: Lady J Thompson’s, Mrs S Austin & Mrs S Stanbury’s Elendil San Miguel. 19mths B/W. Stood well on the table. Dark eye with a cheeky glint Good stop and rise with well set ears. Sound in body with muscle tone. Very good dentition and teeth were spotlessly clean. Moved well both ways and was unfortunate to meet in the same class as the 1st .
Novice Dog (2)
1st: Ms J Kerrison’s Kezkez Signore Nico Rosberg. 3yrs. Smaller in type but such a pretty butterfly head. Correct muzzle length with stop and rise of forehead. Well placed ears with beautiful fringing. Shown in excellent coat condition and presentation was excellent. Good body shape and adequate rib. Always standing square when asked. He moved around the ring with drive, carrying a level topline and showing parallel movement. There is so much to like about this little one.
2nd: Mr D & Mrs W Curry’s WilichansGreatest Showman For Davankirk. 10mths Tri. Smaller in type. A baby in this class and just needs time to mature and find himself. He is in good coat for his age. Very attentive to his handler, he just needs time.
Post Graduate Dog (5)(1a)
1st: Mr G & Mrs E Davidson’s Elmaraine Guards Piper . 2yrs Tri who is smaller in type. Nicely shaped head with correct set ears and fringing. He has dark expressive eyes, and a pretty little one. Has a good spring of rib, length of loin and level topline. Always stood squarely. He moved out fluently for handler showing drive.
2nd: Ms J Kerrison’s Lastayla Caramel Shortcake. 2yrs R/SW. A pretty one with the correct head proportions. Has a lovely expression with dark eyes and ear fringing. In good body with muscle tone and correct tail set. Moved well and was always attentive to handler. A very close decision between 1st and 2nd, at another show could easily change places.
3rd: Ms P Taylor’s Pamhurst Picasso
Limit Dog (11)
1st: Mrs E & Miss K Andserson’s Elmaraine Outlander over Northlyte. 2yrs Tri. Smaller in type with a pretty head and dark eyes. Nicely set ears with fringing. Well rounded rib and a good length of loin. Shoulders correctly placed leading to a straight front standing parallel. Good rear angulation. Carried tail well and moved fluently around ring. In good coat and handled in an attentive and caring manner. In the challenge pulled out all the stops to take a well deserved RDCC.
2nd: Mrs D Watson’s Asan Mersana (imp POL)IR Jun CH JW 2023. 3yrs Tri. Attractive head. Standing with straight front legs at all times. Well set tail. Moved well however seemed a little lack luster today, but it has been a busy weekend. Another show could be totally different. 3rd: Mrs S Morrell’s Melangel Magic Mix.
Open Dog(11) (3a)
1st: Mrs M Whitehill’s Northlyte Buffalo Bill. 2yrs Tri. Compact, with a pretty head and correct muzzle ratio. Defined stop with a rise of forehead. Correct earshape with fringing. Well schooled on table showing a level topline, good rib and shoulder placement. Perhaps would have liked a little more length of neck to give him elegance. At times it seemed as if he was sitting into his shoulders. The longer neckline would have given the grace when moving and standing. This little one is in good coat, the presentation was excellent. Handled very well but in the challenge lost attitude in his performance. Once again perhaps with three shows over two days it was taking a toll. In his OD class a lovely exhibit.
2nd: Mrs M Bougue’s Adelays Brilliant Buddy ( Imp RUS) . 5yrs. R/S/W noseband with black mask. Nice head shape with well set ears and fringing. Moved fluently and true, showing himself off when going around the ring. He is a balanced little dog with good rib and muscle tone. Showed parallel movement. Once again the energy level dipped slightly at times but overall you could see his quality.
3rd: Miss K Mason’s Finity Run The Gauntlet JW.
Veteran Bitch (1)
1st: Mr A Foyne’s Lafay Has The Last Word With Amicae. 9yrs R/S/W. A pretty head and full of beans, she was very happy to be showing. Dark expressive eye. For age in good body and moved well around the ring. Would have liked more coat presentation to finish the picture. She is a very attentive little four paws. A young junior handler showed her in the ring for challenging for best BVIS and did a wonderful job. BVIS
Minor Puppy Bitch (3) (2a)
1st: Mrs M Whitehill’s Feyeta Love In Mist. 8mths R/S/W. Smaller in size but within breed standard. Just needs time to mature and fill out. She was very happy on the move and worked well with handler. Just needs time will grow in confidence and sort things out in her head. A pretty little one though.
Puppy Bitch (2)
1st: Ms D Olof’s Tarnock Rosaline. 11 mths Tri. Nice earset with dark eye. Would have preferred a slightly shorter muzzle. Excellent dentition. She has a balanced body with muscle tone and level topline. Moved around the ring smoothly, showing drive from the rear. In good coat and well presented. Certainly did enough on the day to take the award of BPIS.
2nd: Mr G & Mrs E Davidson’s Afterglow Snug As A Bug At Elmaraine. 11mths. She was a little unsettled on the table today. Because of this the earset appeared lower but maybe this was because she was apprehensive. Handler was very sympathetic, handling her calmly with kindness. Certainly there is a connection between the two as she walked well with her handler. Another day could be totally different.
Yearling Bitch (2)(1a)
1st: Mrs S & Ms M Last’s Lastayla Hocus Pocus. 19 mths R/S/W. A pretty head with a inquisitive dark eye. At present appears narrow throughout which doesn’t help to give the appearance of free flowing movement. Once she has bodied up it will help to give a balanced picture. She moved well with tail carried correctly. Well presented and handled in a manner for the dog to give of its best.
Post Graduate Bitch (2)(1a)
1st: Mrs F Harrie’s Afterglow Barbie Doll With Penchrystona. 2yrs R/S/W. An appealing little one with good head proportions, dark eye and fringing. Stood well on table showing a straight front, lay of shoulders and well ribbed with tuck up. On the move kept a level topline and moved fluently around the ring. Shown in good condition.
Limit Bitch (6)(1a)
1st: Mrs A Pinder’s Afterglow Barbette with Starmarla JW CW2025. 2yrs Tri. Good shape and balance throughout. At present she is narrower in head. A little extra weight would balance the overall picture. Standing squarely at all times with straight front and good rear angulations. Well presented and handled well.
2nd: Ms P Taylor’s Pamhurst Pretty Petal. 3yrs Tri. She has lovely ear fringing with correct ear shape. Well bodied with a good depth of rib and level topline. She moved attentively with handler around the ring with smoothness and balance. Shown in good condition.
3rd: Mr A Foynes’s Lilacrose Magic Crystal For Lafay.
Open Bitch (6)
1st: Mr S Carroll & Mrs J Newman’s Ir CH Candygolds Queenie for Denemore. 4yrs B/W. Presented in pristine glistening condition. She is a very alert little girl and at one with handler. Always on her toes and has plenty of ‘look at me’ attitude. Stood away in this class and fully deserved the award of BCC and BIS. Well schooled on table. She has classic head markings with dark expressive eyes and cheeky expression. Good pigment. Correct ear placement with profuse fringing, but not over fringed to unbalance the head shape. She has an elegant neckline, which she carries proudly. Good lay of shoulder and straight front. Correct length of loin with tuck up. Showed a level topline when stood and on the move. Moved fluently with deliberation and drive, she was certainly out to impress today. This she did admirably. In a lovely single silky coat and put down to perfection. She was a joy to watch, congratulations. BCC/ BIS
2nd: Mrs S Morrell’s CH Athena Vom Schwabenhof For Temelora (imp DEU) 3yrs R/S/W Phalene. I have watched this young lady since she was a youngster. She has matured well and ticks so many boxes. She is well constructed throughout and in good body. Has a good lay of shoulder, well sprung rib and length of loin. Always standing squarely when instructed, showing a straight front and good rear angulation. Classic clear head markings enhanced by the quality soft Phalene exression in the darkest of eyes. The drop ears were well fringed which framed the head beautifully. On the move carried topline and tailset correctly. Very attentive to handler at all times. Presented in pristine coat condition, a very well deserved RBCC and shone to take RBIS and BPHIS. Congratulations.
3rd: Mrs M Whitehill’s Feyeta I’m On Fire.
Special Phalene Bitch (3) (2a)
