I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge the open show and for their hospitality. I also thank the exhibitors for giving me a quality entry. I was very pleased with the quality of my principle winners. I was disappointed to find many papillons lacking rib, which in turn lead to poor front movement. The breed standard also calls for a medium neck, there is an increasing tendency to see extravagant necks. Lastly, a personal gripe, when preparing dogs for showing, please don’t forget the teeth.

VD/B (6,3) 1 Smith’s Ch Papplewick Pretty in Pink at Adinaken JW Her outline fits my ideal for the breed standard, lovely head, with dark eye and well furnished ears. Good bite, moderate neck into strong top line and well carried tail. Good spring of rib. Moved true fore and aft, and with drive. BVIS & RBB. 2 Maskell’s Kazkell Thyme to Dream JW. Another quality veteran, Good head, with dark eyes, well furnished mobile ears. Excellent top line, well carried tail, moved with drive. Was unlucky to meet 1. 3 MacGreggor’s Craigaber Timewatch JW.

PD (1) 1 McMillan & Barrow’s Minackcove Poneto. Very raw 11m old puppy, with super pigmentation. Good dentition & mobile ears with feathering coming. Was unsettled on the move.

JD (7,1) 1 Waller’s Lilnrose I’m A Lovebug. Another pleasing outline, compact body, moderate neck, well set tail, good rear angulation. Firm top line, held on the move. Moved well fore and aft and with drive from behind. 2 Reid’s Phylcher Heartbreaker, larger type, with good spring of rib, level top line excellent mouth, good pigmentation. Good rear angulation, moved with drive. On another day could swap places with 1. 3 Whitehill & Unwin’s Paparottsie Talk the Talk.

ND (4) 1 Wilson’s Amicae Badger. Fell in love with this 14m old youngster as he entered the ring, level top line, good moderately arched neck, moved with purpose and drive. Did not disappoint on the table, excellent spring & depth of rib, firm level top line, good lay of shoulder, and angulation. Large dark eye, with lovely expression. Ears mobile and well set at 45 degrees. Well set tail. One to watch for the future. BD & BIS. 2 Waller’s Lilnrose Ears Looking At You, Phalene with firm level top line, moved with drive, slightly longer in the back. Large dark eye, with good dentition. Mobile ears used well. 3 McMillan & Barrow’s Minackcove Poneto.

PGD (2) 1 Waller’s Lilnrose I’m A Lovebug See Junior. 2 Hatch’s Amicae Call Me Bad Macstrak. Sweetest of heads, with good dark eye, well set ears. Firm level top line, with parallel movement fore and aft, moved with drive.

LD (6,1) 1 Whitehill’s Paparottsie Heart Beats At Amicae. Striking b/w dog with excellent angulation, moved with drive from behind. Lovely head, with good stop and well set mobile ears, good length of neck and excellent dentition. Still needs time to mature. 2 MacGreggor’s Craigber Rolex. 8½ year old dog, who didn’t look out of place in this class, moved like a pro. Good spring of rib, angulation and movement, level top line and well set tail. 3 Davidson’s Rozamie Roberto of Elmaraine.

OD (6) 1 Anderson’s Ch Frasermar Storm in the Snow. Well constructed dog, with level top line, good rear angulation. Moved well fore and aft and was a picture from the side. Lovely head, with dark eyes and mobile ears. Presented beautifully in full coat. RBD RBIS. 2 Smith’s Papplewick Penghaligion at Adinaken ShCM Sweetest of heads, with dark eye and good bite. Well furnished mobile ears. Moved with purpose. 3 Hatch’s Mastrak Jack Daniel.

PB (1) 1 Anderson’s Skyvana Unique at Northlyte. Pretty well marked b/w puppy. Still very raw, moved tentatively round the ring. Good dentition. Lovely expressive dark eye. BPIS.

JB (4,1) 1 Skelton’s Adnamashan Still Game. Fine and dainty papillon bitch, good dentition, pretty head with dark eye and mobile ears. Good tail set. 2 Maskell’s Lilnrose Too Vain to Dream Kazkell. Another fine papillon, with dark eye and mobile ears, not quite as furnished as 1. 3 Deamer’s Bankshill Ruth Is An Angel

MAIDEN BITCH (3,1) 1 Waller’s Lilnrose Treasure The Dream. Sweet head, with dark eye and mobile ears on an adequate neck, leading to good top line. Was a little unsettled today. 2 Broadhurst’s Thistlemist Tears of Joy. Good head and dentition. Moderate neck, moved well fore and aft. Another that was a little unsettled today.

NB (1) 1 Maskell’s Lilnrose Too Vain to Dream Kazkell 2nd in Junior.

PGB (6,1) 1 Mandelson’s Maridova Victorias Dream in Honrukai JW Well presented tri bitch, good head, with dark eye and well set ears. Moderate neck, leading into a level top line and well set tail. Sufficient angulation, giving good movement fore and aft and drive when viewed from the side. BB & BOS. 2 Whitehill’s Farthinghall Xit This Way. Pleasing head, not helped by her markings. Good neck and top line, moved well. 3 Smith’s Adinaken Pretty Puzzled.

LB (3,1) 1 Waller’s Melangel Vanity Fayre at Lilnrose Large dark eyes, with pleasing expression, good dentition. Moderate neck, good angulation and top line, finished with well set tail. 2 McCrindle Kazzlyn Rainbow Rose. Heavier type, with good spring of rib and top line, well set tail. Movement ok.

OB (3,2) 1 MacGregor’s Craigaber Timewatch. 8½ year old still moving well, good top line. Well sprung ribs with lovely front movement. Coat just beginning to show her age.
