Critique
Sincerest thanks to Richmond for inviting me to judge, my steward(s) and to those who entered, especially in such challenging conditions. Thankfully the weather held out and the sun came out for the final classes.
I was really delighted with my main winners and would gladly have taken them all home. I must admit I was a little worried about how I would split hairs for BOB with both being such lovely quality dogs but thankfully or not, Sadly my Dog CC decided he didn’t want to show as well in the challenge as he did earlier and so on this occasion he had to concede to the superb Phalene bitch who was having a lovely day and clearly enjoying every minute of it. I’m sure on another day they could swap places but it’s always down to the dog on the day and the judge being honest in the moment.
I think as a breed though, we really need to watch not only cleanliness of teeth but also fronts, as this was the main let down today, many were weak in Pasterns but I also think sadly many lacked enough body & general spring of rib / depth of chest to be able stand better. In addition many could really have done with a little more feeding up/weight on them. This would make a huge difference to their placings. Lastly I will say please take the time to train your dogs outside of your home, as well as to play / engage with them a little more in the ring. If it’s not fun for them it won’t be fun for you when they don’t want to show themselves off to their best ability. Many of the dogs lost out because movement was hard to assess because they weren’t listening/trained correctly, which when the operative word is “show”, it is what you are there paying for. It was however good to see dogs being groomed to a higher standard, it makes a big difference!

Veteran Dog (2/2)
Both dogs moved well in this class.
1. Mrs L & Mr W Jury – Melangel Zachary At Lindanwaye – This was a beautiful 8.5y old R/S/W who was shown in tip top condition. Exquisite head and Fringes with a Super body and out line. Definitely one to be proud of. Would just like to have seen him a little happier. Definitely a hard decision for BVIB.
2. Humphrey’s Caraidas The extra Mile To Gloynbyw SHCM VW – 9.5y Tri Male, who I always liked as a youngster. A good honest dog with a nice outline, decent spring of rib and depth of chest which showed in his movement. Just showing his age and not his happiest today sadly.
MPD (1)
1. Lee-Slaters ,Graycaz Where I Go Hugo’s – 7m R/S/W pup who though was raw, showed his little paws off. Beautifully groomed and at one with his handler. Attractive head leading into correct medium neck, showing off a lovely unexaggerated outline. If picky would like a little more weight on him. However he Moved and Stood ok.
Puppy dog ( 3/3 )
A difficult class as all 3 had attributes that on a different day could make them swap places. It will be interesting to see all 3 at a later date!
1. Orlof’s – Tarnock Wiggle Giggle – 11m b/w male superbly presented and well shown in almost full coat. He has a Beautiful head with decent fringes coming in, which along with his really super temperament gave him the look at me edge today. If picky would like him to come up on leg a little more and put a little more weight on. However he Moved and showed well and is a credit to his owner.
2. Thompson & Austin & Stanbury Elendil San Miguel 11m B/W boy who though didn’t have the coat of 1. Did his best to give a good performance and pushed all the way. Though not perfectly marked he had an attractive head with super ears, ear leather and fringes. Another who For the most part stood and moved ok.
3. Man’s Havin A Good Time – This B/W 10m male was sadly not having a good time. He had everything where you would want it but sadly lacked the temperament to make the most of it today. Masculine head leading into medium neck and lovely outline. He showed moments of moving well but sadly was just not happy today. I hope he settles with age as it would be a shame if he didn’t and lost out.
Junior dog ( 5/5 )
1. Carters Graycaz on a mission – This 12m R/S/W solid headed male is an attractive boy who instantly draws your eye. Shown well and in immaculate condition, he did all that was asked of him. He had a lovely neck leading into decent front assembly, so Stood and moved well. If picky would like a slightly higher tail set. Definitely one to watch with interest as he matures.
2. Mathews Baillion Be Unique . This 13.5m Tri of larger size was “trying” to say the least. Shown in beautiful condition, stood ok but did not want to cooperate with his handler on the move today sadly. Good spring of rib and depth of chest , balanced outline, just not using what was available to him. A little ringcraft will definitely help!
3. Quinn’s Amber Beauty Xany ( imp pol ) Medium sized 13m b/w boy, beautifully groomed and shown in almost full coat. Attractive head with well fringed ears. A little unsure at times which affected his outline on the stand. If picky would like a slightly stronger front.
Novice Dog (1/1)
1. Taylors Baillion Boogie All night with Auziway – This nearly 3 year old larger type male was shown in super condition. Adequate masculine head with super ears and fringes. Well balanced body and outline with decent spring of rib and depth of chest . Moved well but was just let down on the stop by slightly weak Pasterns.
Graduate Dog (1/2)
1. Taylors Baillion Boogie All night with Auziway ( See previous class )
Limit Dog (4/5)
1. Thompson & Austin’s Skyvana Catch me at Jhanakia JW – This pretty 3 year old b/w was beautifully schooled. He was the only dog today shown on a loose lead. Attractive head with dark eyes, super ears and fringes. Presented and moved well. If picky would have liked a little more body and higher tail set. However he couldn’t be denied this class today.
2. Manns Khanor Special edition for Melangel – This 3 year old pretty B/W boy was a really lovely type and indeed had the best body and outline of the class, however he wasn’t happy today and placed him as best/fairly as I could having seen moments of his potential quality. I hope you can get this boy around with some time and patience.
3. Morris’s Tarnock Tap Dance Teddy – This larger 2 year old b/w male was unlucky to meet the other two today. He was however groomed and schooled well and subsequently moved ok. If picky I’d have preferred a higher ear set and darker eye on him to finish him off.
Open dog (2/2)
1. Robb & Gudbergsdottir Ch & Multi Ch Fashion First High Priority (imp) This exquisite Tri dog has to be one of my favourites ever. I saw him at crufts and I fell in love instantly before the classes had even started. At 3 he is just starting to mature and I’m sure will have a long career ahead of him. His head and ears are stunning, his beautifully shaped dark eyes couldn’t fail to melt the coldest heart. He stands and moves elegantly. Underneath his coat He has a super spring of rib and depth of chest, a medium neck and correct body proportions. I love that’s he’s completely unexaggerated with just enough of everything in the right place to move and looked balanced. To top it all off He’s Beautifully, groomed, shown and schooled. It was a shame he decided he’d had enough in the challenge but he pulled out all the stops initially for another well deserved CC.
2. Milroy’s Lafford inspector Lewis At Farthinghall – I don’t recall seeing this 23m old beautiful b/w boy before. He came in the ring with such a lovely presence that though unlucky to meet 1, he also could not be denied today. He has the prettiest of heads, with a beautiful dark eye and though not huge ears, they had strong leathers with nice fringes. Another with a really nice body with super spring of rib and depth of chest, which showed off a nice outline on the move or still. He was beautifully groomed, schooled and shown and though he had a change of handler, I forgave a little exuberance on the move because he was clearly full of it, enjoying his moment just asking to be looked at. He was definitely Well deserving of the RCC today.

Class VB (1/1)
1. COX’s Ch Tricianbri Tuppence A Kiss JW Sh.CM – A Ch and I can see why. An exquisite nearly 8 3/4 year old R/S/W bitch who looks and moves well for her age. Beautiful head with the prettiest dark eyes and super fringing still. Profuse coat Shown in immaculate condition, with the nicest body underneath it. Handler got the best out of her today and I was pleased to award her BVIB in the challenge.
MPB (2/2)
1. LEE-SLATER, Graycaz Dutch Courage – Another 7m R/S/W puppy from this kennel who clearly has a type. Reminds me of one from many years ago. Exquisite in head with beautiful dark eyes and sprouting gorgeous fringes already. Has a really lovely outline. Moved and stood well. Another one who was gleamingly Well groomed and at one with her handler. If picky would just like a little more weight on her. I shall watch her with interest.
2. MATTHEWS, Mrs Jayne Jaynepaps Alsephina Vela – 7m R/S/W bitch, who was marked well and Another that was also having a great time not listening to her handler. Shown in lovely clean condition with a beautiful outline. Moved ok at times but was more interested in grabbing things off the floor. It will be interesting to see how she matures, along with getting a little more training in the future. If picky I’d like a little stronger front on her.
PB (5/5)
1. ROBB’s Glenn Gleniren Miracle Starmaker – Beautiful 11m Tri bitch who was groomed, schooled and shown to perfection. Another with a lovely outline, not exaggerated which we often see . Really loved the temperament on her and it was lovely to see her enjoying her ring time and her furry mouse, which kept her lively and alert. She had a lovely connection with her handler which showed her off more. If picky I’d like a little more body/weight on her but she has time. Pleased to award her the RBCC and to see she won 2nd in the Puppy Group!
2. MANN’s J Dreams Come True – This was a beautiful b/w 9m old bitch. Presented in lovely gleaming condition. Such a shame she was not happy today. I saw glimpses of what could be and she couldn’t be denied her place for her quality alone but I sure hope she comes around. What a beautiful painted head piece and such a nice general type of bitch. She has a really lovely outline when she wants to and a lovely front which I do have a photo of from when she put the breaks on and said no more. Such a shame. Hope you get her going.
3. LAST’s Mrs Shireen Lastayla Hocus Pocus. Smaller type, pretty headed bitch of 11m. Immaculately Groomed and shown well. Would just have liked to have seen more body on her, with a slightly better tail set.
JB (2/2)
1. WALKLETT, Mrs Judith Angullyon’s Hermione. Pretty 16m Tri bitch. Stood and moved well when she wanted to listen. Medium neck leading into nice outline. Would have liked a little more body and weight on her.
2. MILROY, Mrs Kat Farthinghall Lallibella. Nearly 18m R/S/W bitch of larger type. Better body than one but much heavier in head. Large well fringed ears. Did what was asked of her but only relaxed fully when handler changed and she was standing when placed.
YB (1/1)
1. THOMPSON & AUSTIN, Ablazzor Ebony And Ivory At Jhanakia 18m old b/w bitch of honest type with decent outline. She has a good spring of rib and depth of chest and subsequently Moved well, even though she slightly unsure at times and not fully enjoying the wet floor. ( I didn’t blame her as I didn’t like it either ) Ok in head with nice dark eyes. Well fringed ears for age. If picky I would have liked less ticking and a slightly stronger front but I don’t think the wet grass helped.
NB (1/2)
1. LAST, Miss Michaela & LAST, Mrs Shireen Lastayla Hocus Pocus ( See 3rd PB )
LB (5/5)
1. DIPROSE, Lilacrose Touch Of Talent – 4 year old Tri bitch who was a beautiful little show girl. Stunning head piece with beautiful dark eyes, super ears and fringes. My notes say she had the most beautiful front, which I caught on camera. She wasn’t so happy on the table but once on the floor She Stood beautifully 4 square and couldn’t be denied the class. My only criticism was I would have liked a little more weight on her and wanted a better tail set.
2. JURY’s Melangel Gaily Georgia At Lindanwaye Another beautiful Tri bitch of 5 years old. A little out of coat today and not fully happy when I went too close but nonetheless deserving of her place and pushing 1st place hard. Really nice body and outline, good spring of rib and depth of chest, though not quite as pretty in head and showing herself off as 1st. Groomed and Shown in lovely condition. A really honest bitch.
3. HUMPHREY, Mrs P & Mr R Lilnrose Butterfly Kisses For Gloynbyw. 5 year old light R/S\W bitch who was shown in lovely condition with a great body underneath her coat. Moved and showed well once settled, definitely enjoyed her time in the ring. Would like to have seen a slightly tidier hare foot as the excessive fringing was distracting and think once trimmed it will make her front smarter. Best Special beginner in breed. Sorry she couldn’t stay.
OB (2/4)
1. MORRELL’s Athene Vom Schwabenhof For Temelora (imp Deu) Stunning Tri Phalene who I have also loved from the moment I saw her. She was Groomed and shown to perfection today. She has the nicest of heads with correctly set Phalene ears, which were beautifully fringed, that perfectly framed her Gorgeous head. She has the kindest of dark eyes and today I’m sure I saw her smiling at me! Like with the DCC She has the perfect unexaggerated outline, with the tail set beautifully to match/offset her lovely medium neck. All of which which of course comes from a Super spring of Rib and depth of chest underneath the coat. Today she did not put a foot wrong. Her temperament was just fabulous, she was just the most magical mix of lively and alert and I really couldn’t take my eyes off her. To find 2 such super dogs in the UK left me on the edge of how to knit pick for BOB but today was 100% her day! BCC/BOB
2. COX’s Briar Rose For Ringland 5 year old R/S/W bitch of larger type shown in profuse coat, which was groomed well. Attractive head with super sized ears that were dripping in luscious fringes. Great spring of rib and depth of chest. Showed and moved well. Just couldn’t quite forgive her front today.
