Many thanks to the exhibitors for a lovely entry of quality dogs. It was a pleasure to go over so many happy dogs in great condition. The show was very well run by the committee, held in a good venue with a lovely sized ring also thanks to the stewards for keeping me organized. In general, I found most mouths good, movement very good and the standard of presentation was excellent. On the down side, sadly we are still seeing some lighter eyes which detracts from the beautiful expression that a good dark eye creates, also too many rounded feet, which in some cases were actually made worse by sculpturing, the true hare foot adds elegance to the overall picture in my opinion. Both these points are a standard requirement. Overall a high quality entry.

Firstly I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge their special award and JHA classes – this being my first club show appointment and for their warm hospitality throughout the day. Overall quality was good, although a few exhibits were lacking in hare feet and sufficient body. Secondly, my greatest thanks to the exhibitors for their support during and after judging.

Special Award Open Red/White or Red/White/Sable Dog or Bitch (8, 2A)
1st: Milroy’s Denemore The Ruben Effect at Farthingall (IKC) A beautifully turned out dog, with flat, silky coat. Lovely head proportions with a well defined stop. Eyes beautifully dark, medium sized and round set well in skull. Ear set good with nice fringing. Neck just the right length followed by well set shoulders and a strong, level topline. Front good with strong bone, if being picky could be slightly finer, followed by sufficient hare feet, elbows being tight to body. Body sturdy with short loin. Stifle of slight turn with neat, parallel legs all round. Tail set good although slightly flat over back. As expected, movement was good and free flowing, with strong rear movement giving the ability to see full pad from behind.
2nd: Munn’s Ch Ringlands Special Gift A finely made bitch who made choosing between 1 & 2 difficult. Eyes were dark and set well into skull with large, round ears which were well fringed and of good set. Muzzle I felt could be slightly shorter. Made of fine bone, this bitch was very dainty although sturdy enough upon examination. Elbows close to good body. Coat texture excellent with enough fringing all round. Tail set good with tail arching half way over strong topline. Good bend of stifle with parallel legs. Movement was again excellent, covering the large ring well.
3rd: Orchard’s Kissable de Costalina at Panspayon ShCM (IMP BEL)
Res: Jones’ Vixpin Applejack
VHC: Williams’ Cintarshe Dancing Light at Johnasta

Special Award Open Tricolour or Black & White Dog or Bitch (8, 1A)
1st: Atkins’ Metamorphic Posted to Vlinder A nicely made black and white speckle dog. Head proportions excellent with beautiful medium sized dark eyes. Excellent ear set which were large, mobile and abundantly fringed – probably the most fringing I have ever seen on a dog! Coat was fine and silky. Neck of good length, with strong body, elbows tight to body which was followed by straight, fine bone. One of a few to have good, long hare feet. Level topline and slight turn of stifle. Tail set good with tail covering half of body length and falling into a plume. A free flowing, elegant mover who covered the ring well, showing full pad from behind.
2nd: Lindsay’s Skyvana Party Time Jazz Plays Mezanda Again, a beautiful black and white 22 month bitch who had one of the sweetest expressions made by her dark, round, medium sized eyes. Her ear set was good with enough fringing for her age. Good neck with well set shoulders following into a strong topline. Body good, although could be slightly stronger. Bone fine with OK feet. Elbows close to body with well turned stifle. Coat of excellent texture and length. Tail set good covering half of topline. Again, an excellent mover showing full pad and elegance moving around the ring – a tough decision between 1 & 2, just preferred bone and furnishings on 1.
3rd: Bull’s Altaya Foreign Affair
Res: Nash’s Ookiimimi Jitterbug
VHC: Melvin & Cox’s Tricanbri Wish Beaune at Shalandar ShCM

Special Award Open Phalene Dog or Bitch (2,1A)
1st: Roberts & Smith’s Rayol Ears to Kisses A 7 month old black and white bitch. Good head with nicely sized ears of good fringing. Slightly longer in muzzle although she still has time to mature. Made of fine, strong bone with excellent, strong body and topline with a fine and silky coat. Enough turn of stifle with OK tail set. A little lose on rear movement although again I would expect this to tighten up with maturity.

JHA 6-11 (0,0)
JHA 12-16 (2)

1st: Eleanore Taylor A neatly presented handler who entered the ring with good posture (something which seems to be disappearing) and confidence. Eleanore communicated with her dog throughout her performance, accentuating their rapport together. Lead control was excellent as was her awareness of my position in the ring and her lines. She moved around her dog in good time allowing me to gain a full view of her dog and showed bite clearly. BJH
2nd: Matthew Wells Again, a neatly presented handler who did all I asked correctly. Matthew moved around his dog well and showed teeth correctly and gave tight lines. Overall, I just felt Eleanore had the edge today.
