Whilst I was delighted at the entry over 70 dogs on paper, I was disappointed & surprised at the quality of some of the dogs, with many un-level toplines, movement on the whole was quite poor with cow hocks, single tracking, pigeon toes, crabbing and plaiting; quite common,

Several of the ‘expected’ top winners, who excelled in head, ears, fringes and breed type, I just couldn’t forgive the construction and movement. Front angulation in particular seemed to be a problem.& many with domed skulls.

Whilst not being a teeth fanatic, I do think lost teeth at just 18 months or 2years of age is quite unacceptable & cleanliness of teeth was of significant concern especially in some younger and junior dogs of little age!, there is more to a mouth than the 6 front teeth, those at the sides were dreadful in several cases,

A large number of exhibits had pale amber and glassy yellow eyes! Like teddy bears! Totally distracting & alien to a soft expression and to the dark eye required in the standard.

Presentation on the whole was a bit disappointing, but with some notable exceptions. But I do believe more emphasis on soundness rather than prettiness as a whole would be a better thing.

I was delighted to find my BD and BB, both of whom I would be pleased to have bred or own.

Puppy Dog (9 ents)
1st Stanbury’s PANSPAYON STEPPIN OUT WITH INIXIA
b/w dog of good type, sweet head and expression, lovely eye shape and placement, spot on for size, fine round bone and good depth of rib, neat ears of good size, well balanced dog who moved totally parallel, easy winner in this class.
2nd Morrell & Teague’s TEMELORA SUN DANCER
Well balanced dog, gives nice picture when standing.
3rd Orchard’s PANSPAYON DANCETIME

b/w, masculine ½ brother to PD1, lacked presentation, lighter than ideal in eye, it was of nice shape and well placed, mobile large ears, was true freer mover, well muscled behind, with good level topline,, good length of back, and depth of brisket, soundly made, well angulated both ends, scored on his overall soundness, although size bigger than to 2

Preferred his lovely head & overall type to 1, has super well carried jug handled tail.

1st Orchards SHAMAL MAGIC WINGS OVER PANSPAYON
Young B/w dog at the top end who doesn’t need to grown on, needs time to fine down & full fill his promise, good sweep of neck, well balanced, with fitting head, nice eye placement and ears, really well built and sound mover as others from this kennel, lacking polish in presentation, but showed good overall construction, well angulated rear and well muscled thighs, level topline on the move, lost interest a little at the end. but sound puppy..nice dog BPD/RBD/BPIB.

This r/w dog I’d like to take home! He epitomises the standard., all but for a slightly darker eye…
Fabulous textured coat, long fine flat silky, flowing coat over great body, really pleasing to go over, well angulated, well muscled, dog of substance who appears quite dainty .Lovely make and shape of correct size, easily the best built and bodied pap I have had the pleasure of going over., lovely flowing lines from sweep over neck down through to dead level topline, easy mover, totally true viewed from any angle. Head fits the total picture, with adequately fringed ears, good mouth and teeth, whilst he has a good expression, the tear stains do detract as does his overall coat presentation, preventing him from I believe achieving his true potential. I just could not overlook his lovely soundness and balance for these superficial faults. BD/BOB

Another overall nice dog from this kennel, lovely tri of good balance, although to be critical, expression I found a bit hard.

Dark coloured dog of nice balance, correct size, moved very well, soundly made, solid body, good level topline, lacking coat and furnishings today, but gave a super picture in profile. Attentive showman with large mobile ears and nice head and expression, a worthy winner.
2nd Wilson & Boal’s ERINSJOY HARVEY WALLBANGER
Exceptionally well built dog, immaculately presented, very attentive, slightly heavier skull and bone throughout, sound mover, well ribbed, and well let down behind, would have preferred a touch move neck to emphasise his elegance and bit more stop to enhance his head. But liked this honest dog a lot. Very Well handled.

Very elegant tri puppy with exceptional neck, and exaggerated jug handled tail, very fine and feminine, nice balance, very fine foreface for size of head / dog, looking a bit leggy still yet, but very promising pup, moving quite neatly.
2nd Wilson & Boal’s ERINSJOY COPACABANA
B/w Young girl with really lovely head. eye and ears, well placed and fringed, tail a bit flat, needs more time to gain confidence on the table.

Small, fine, very feminine r/w girl, very pretty and dainty, lovely flat coat, nice neat shower.

Clear r/w quality phalene pup, full of charm, confidence, and that special look at me charisma,, very solid, soundly made with deep ribs, well let down behind, very glamorous colour and markings, level topline, heavier boned at present, front movement will no doubt settle along with her exuberance ! large ears, well set, still needs to flatten a little in skull, strong foreface, good mouth, would prefer a rounder softer eye & expression but a quality pup who will I’m sure be destined for the top. Mahogany/w bitch of lovely shape, soundly made, well balanced nice animal, who is lacking a bit of confidence, makes a super picture when puts it all together. Good head, plenty of stop, large ears, well used, nice full round eye. Promising dual purpose bitch.
