07 February 2020 Breed Notes

The Papillon (Butterfly) Dog Club held their Open show at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Solihull. For this show breed specialist Rosemary Hobson was taking the helm to go over the good entry of 113/ 80 dogs entered. Unfortunately we could not be there due to the Eukanuba Champion Stakes being held on the same day, however I hope Rosemarie and all the exhibitors had an enjoyable day. I am sure as usual the committee gave 100% to make it a special day for all that had travelled the distance to the show. Committee members at all our breed clubs shows work so hard and are not always are appreciated for their tireless and time consuming efforts. Sometimes ‘we’ the exhibitors go with the flow at the show and get so involved with preparing our dogs that it is just accepted that the show runs like clockwork without seeing the bigger picture. So a big pat on the back for what I am sure was an excellently run show.

The judge found her principal winners to be; BIS/ BD Hazel Malcolm’s Feorlig It Must’ve Been Love. Congratulations Hazel you must have driven home on cloud nine, RBIS/BOS Karen and Steve Maskell’s Kazkell Milo’s Dream JW, BVIS Sue Morrell’s Temelora Bobby Dazzler JW, BPHIS Sue Morrell’s Serenglade Leap Of Faith for Temelora, BPIS Sue Stanbury and Sophie Langdon’s Skyvana Zero Hour for Inixia. Res BD Wilkinson’s Lafford Inspector Morse in Poppywood JW, Res BB Christine and Aiden Foynes’s Lafay Has The last Word with Amicae, Res BPD Sue Stanbury’s Inixia Kalvin Klein. BPB Karen Maskell and Maxine Waller’s Kazkell Lilnrose Dream, Res BPB Milton’s Ookiimimi Over The Moon to Papdemonium and BVB Hilsorg Chris Anderson’s Marks Amelia at Pappretty.

The Special Award classes and Junior Handling were judged by non breed specialist Mrs Vanessa Williams-Wegman. Special Awards Puppy dog/bitch Kaskell Linrose Dreamn, SA Yearling dog/bitch Debbie Goodwin’s Melangel Fabulous Man For Paplene, SA Open dog/bitch Maxine Waller and Karen Maskell’s Lilnrose Ears Looking At You Kazkell. Overall Best Junior Handler was from the 6-11 age group and it was Kara Mason.

A special word of congratulations must go to the Eukanuba for the fabulous day and evening that they gave the finalists for the Eukanuba Champion and Puppy Stakes held this year at its old hunting ground of Chesford Grange Hotel. For the two years previous we had been at Crufts, everyone who had previously had the fortune to be at this event missed Chesford Grange it really made it a special day. So all those that attended this year were thrilled to be back and the atmosphere was brimming for this very special day of celebrating all the finalists. It is no easy task to qualify for both the Champion and Puppy final over the year and Chesford Grange and the Eukanuba staff made it special for everyone there. We were very proud of our little Pom Imogen who showed her heart out. Thank you everyone at Eukanuba for stretching the extra mile.

My personal thanks to The Midland Chihuahua Club for inviting me to judge BIS at their Open Show, it was a great honour to do so and the lovely exhibitors and committee were amazing.

Take care when travelling to the shows and enjoy every moment of your day with friends and four paws.
