07 June 2024 Papillon Breed Notes

The National Dog Show was next on the agenda held at The Staffordshire County Showground. This was the societies 165th General Championship Show and has to be one of the most spectacular and organised shows of the year. The buildings are transformed into a joy of goodness. The splendour of every ring in any part of the buildings is just outstanding. Exhibitors are treated to the luxury of green carpeting in every ring and the show is presented to perfection. Huge congratulations to Nick Gourley and his hard working committee for giving every ounce of their time and commitment, it showed in bucket loads.

The Papillon ring was situated next to the BIS ring in Bingley Hall with the luxury of plenty of space in all areas. Breed specialist Kevin Arrowsmith (Arrowbien) wasgiven the task of taking the helm for the day. There was a wonderful Papillon entry of 109/115 so the classes were full to capacity, which was so lovely to see.
Mr Arrowsmith went over the dogs on the table in a thoughtful, kind and caring manner. Always giving the exhibitor the opportunity to make sure their charges were performing of their best when on the floor.

The principal winners were as follows. BCC/ BOB/ TGP4 a delighted Irene and Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Oops I Did It Again Sunshoo. The Toy Group judge was Mr Richard Haynes. This was Britney’s magical third challenge certificate so it was a very special day. Not to be left out the baby of the team Gleniren Miracle Starmaker took BP and went on to take a lovely TPGP3 under Albert Wight.
DCC was Elaine Davidson’s Ch & Am Ch Elmaraine Chasing Rainbows.

Congratulations to everyone who achieved what they set out to do and thank you Birmingham National for putting on a first rate show, a round of applause to everyone.

The Devon County Open Premier Show received a good entry of Papillons. From previous memories this is always a nice show to attend. Jo Lewis was judging and Susie and Margaret Orchard had a brilliant day taking BOB and then TGP1 with Panspayon Natasha JW and also RBOB with Panspayon Pennyroyale. Sue Stanbury must have been pleased with her youngster Inixia Sowton Sensation being awarded BPIB and then a lovely TPGP4. Hazel Malcolm took a first in AV Toy Champion with Ch Feorlig Must’ve Been Love. Well done to everyone.

As the shows start building up momentum at a fair rate, take care on the roads and most of all have fun and enjoy.
