13 May 2022 Breed Notes

United Kingdom Toydog Society held celebrations for their fiftieth anniversary show, amazing specials were on offer for all the exhibitors that had entered. If you had shown at the societies first show in 1972 the costs of your entry for 2022 were refunded.
To celebrate the occasion, the society also offered prize money to the following winners in each breed and also in the Import Register classes: Best Special Beginners £20, Best Dog £10, Best Bitch £10, Best Puppy £20, Best Veteran £20 and Best of Breed £20.
Every exhibitor at the show received a complimentary lead bag and the Best in Show winner received a deluxe grooming bag generously gifted by Nozee Barker.
Thank you UKTD for going all out to make it a show for the exhibitor. I firmly believe that UKTD is the favourite show of the year for all toy enthusiasts.
Papillons were showing in the Prestwood Centre sharing the area with the Pomeranians, both were spacious rings with plenty of grooming area for folk to manoeuvre around easily.
Our judge for the show was breed specialist Mrs Ann Richardson of the Belvane affix who must have been delighted with her entry of 142/146 as it was the second highest of the breeds. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels took the top spot with 163/173.
Judging commenced and with the help of Mrs Richardson’s very capable stewards the day ticked along smoothly. The judge went over the dogs on the table calmly and confidently making sure each of the four paws was at ease with the situation. She also gave every exhibitor the opportunity to present their dog in the best possible manner.
The principal winners were as follows: Irene and Glenn Robb having a thrilling day taking the DCC/BOB and shortlisted in the Toy Group with Ch Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy , the RBCC with Suniren Daddy’s Girl Gleniren and Best Puppy In Breed with their youngster at her first Championship Show at just seven months old Gleniren Daddy’s Starmaker. Selena carried on her winning ways taking Best Puppy In Show under the Best In Show Judge Nigel Marsh. All three dogs were sired by Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo (Travis) who was Top Dog All Breeds in 2015.

Congratulations to everyone taking a prize and placement card home today.

Easter weekend saw the Papillon exhibitors taking a journey to the Kennel Club Buildings at Stoneleigh for The Papillon (Butterfly) Dog Club Championship Show. A good entry of 134 dogs making 144 entries, plus 1 NFC and 7 Puppy Walk.
This venue is spacious, so the rings were larger than normal and the show had been laid out in a professional manner by the hard working committee. It took the dogs, especially the puppy’s time to become accustomed to the echo and various noises but this certainly wasn’t an issue.
Both judges for the day were respected breed specialists. For the dogs it was Mrs Carol Lees (Lafford) and for the bitches it was Mrs Liz Bartram (Burghbridge), the referee was Mr Joe Magri (Rozamie) who also went over the puppies in the puppy walk during the lunch break. It is always a highlight of the day watching excited exhibitors in the ring for the first time with their new puppies.
During the lunch break the clubs awards were presented for 2019.

Chris and Bob Anderson had plenty of goodies on the club stall and seemed to be doing a good trade throughout the day.
The day went smoothly along as you would expect with two experienced judges at the reins.
The principal winners for the day were as follows.

The next show on the calendar was WELKS held at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern. After the beautiful weather we had gotten used to over a reasonable period of time it was a real shock to the system for WELKS Toy Day, it was freezing all day.
Papillons were located in Hall 5, as you well know this is the posh term for cattle shed so all three of the large entrances were open all day.
Mr John Purnell was awarding cc’s for the first time in Papillons and I hope he had an enjoyable day.
His principal winners were: as follows: BOB/BCC Kirsty Miller and Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smart Cookie JW also taking TGP4 under Rodney Oldham. DCC Irene & Glenn Robb’s Ch Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy.
