20 May 2022 Breed Notes

Stafford was the next venue for all exhibitors to head off too, The National Dog Show held at the Staffordshire County Showground. What a tremendous effort the committee members put in to make sure this is would be a professional show of such high standards. The venue was transformed into a mini Crufts with green carpeting in all areas; this included the Prestwood Centre and annexes, it just looked amazing. All the committee members are dressed in their National show jackets and are so helpful to everyone; it is not surprising the show ran like a well oiled clock. The Best In Show ring was just stunning Nick Gourley the every committee member should be so proud of themselves.
This was a special day for me personally as I was giving Challenge Certificates for the first in Smooth Coat Chihuahuas and it was lovely that Glenn and Carolyn were able to be there. I had a wonderful day judging the breed and my thanks to every exhibitor for their marvellous entry, it was a pleasure to go over your dogs.

For Papillons who were situated in the main hall their judge was to be Arne Foss from Norway. The principal winners were as follows:
DCC/BOB Yvonne Weber’s Aus, DK Ch Ger, Hun, Slo Ch SwissVdh Mi’diliva’s A Thousand Years. This was nice news for us to hear as his sire is Ch Gleniren Santiego Sunshoo He also took a TGP4 under Tom Isherwood.
BCC went to Kirsty Miller & Evan Ryan’s Feorlig Say It With Flowers. Congratulations must go to Evan and Kirsty on their wedding the previous week. From the pictures I have seen Kirsty looked the perfect bride in her beautiful wedding dress, so congratulations Mr & Mrs Ryan.
Best Puppy was Dr’s M & E Griffith’s Manawyddan To A Wild Rose. For the RCC’s for the dogs it was Miller, Ryan & Roosen’s U Knock Me Off My Feet Daydream Believers with Feorlig and for the bitches RBCC Sue Morrell’s Johnasta Georgia for Temelora, Best Veteran was Yvonne Weber’s AKC Dk Cyp Phil MNE Ch Nightfire’s Unique But Real.

A few nice results have happened at Open Shows for Papillons.
Karen Diprose brought exciting news that at Chelmsford & District Canine Society on Bank Holiday Monday Lilcrose Touch Of Talent took BOB & TGP4. Breed and group judge was Mr C Gullon (Barnfall). But I think the most thrilling for Karen was seeing her granddaughter Amelia Evins who is aged 8 years and in the ring for Junior Handling for the first time. She took a very creditable 2nd place out of five in the 6-11 year age group. The junior handling judge was Mrs H Hankins (Woodelrond). This of course qualifies Amelia for the Junior Handling semi finals, so what a fantastic achievement, very well done Amelia.

Pam Taylor had a good day at Perthshire Open Show taking BOB with Pamhurst Ae Fond Kiss. The judge was D. Mobray.
Susie and Margaret Orchard at Yeovil & District Canine Society had a good show. Nightfire’s Be Unique In Style at Panspayon (Imp DEU) took Best of Breed, Panspayon Natasha took Reserve Best Of Breed, Best Puppy In Breed and finishing it off nicely with a TPGP1. The judge was Helen Binns (Arroline).

So keep up the good work with flying the Papillon flag high everyone. The next notes written will be for a weekend of showing. The Papillon Butterfly Dog Club Of Scotland Championship Show with James Newman judging on the Saturday and on the Sunday it is SKC with a replacement judge who will be breed specialist Angela Skelton. Our thoughts go to Lynne George –Evans who was to be the original judge, at the moment she is suffering health wise. We all wish you a speedy recovery.

Take care on your travels and please let me know your successes.
