17 June 2016 – Our Dogs

WET WET WET WELKS! Oh I did feel so sorry for the committee at WELKS championship show this year. We arrived on the last day (Sunday) and the car park was awash with mud and huge puddles. It was quite a challenge to get from the car to the entrance, but once inside , the tarmac made for an easier time getting to the inside ring areas. Here the committee had set up grooming areas facing the rings which provided ample space for the exhibitors and their dogs. The weather continued bad throughout the day until around 3pm when it was dry enough for a look around the trade stands. One has to feel sorry for the trade stand exhibitors on a day like that and friends had said it had been pretty much the same throughout the show.

After judging a group of Papillon exhibitors got together to celebrate Mary Whitehill and Caroline Lee Slaters birthdays, with a super cake and as competitive as ever the two birthday girls competed to see who could blow the candles out 1st! We enjoyed a glass of Prosecco and a slice of cake and a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ by Joe Magri in fine voice, which thankfully covered up for the fact that most of the group couldn’t sing at all.

Our Judge on the day was Mr Roger Banfield (Breed Specialist) who worked through his entry in a very professional manner. We were delighted with our 5th CC this year with our homebred Ch Omegaville Make Me A Petitchien following on from her CC and BOB last week. This week the Best of Breed went to Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo, congratulations and here is the list of all the major winners at WELKS 2016
