20 December 2019 Breed Notes

The last Championship show of the year has come and gone with many exhibitors unfortunately not being able get to attend, including us. Some Northern exhibitors awoke to a generous covering of snow as a early Christmas present, so sense prevailed and they either said, “ not today, thank you “ or got so far down the road and turned back home.

I know of at least one exhibitor who didn’t attend LKA due to the dogs picking up Kennel Cough at a show they had previously attended. They very sensibly stayed away from LKA so as not to infect others. A very wise decision of which should be applauded, perhaps in hindsight other exhibitors that had let their head rule their heart and had been lax in their decisions may regret that now. Please take on board you don’t just infect the dogs at the show but the whole kennel. If there are senior dogs they are at a greater risk and in some cases have died. So please, please there will always be another show to attend and you may relieve someone else’s misery by not attending.

Toy specialist Bryan Claydon of the Brymarden Cavalier affix was judging our breed for LKA. He found his principal winners to be as follows: A glorious double for Kirsty Miller and Evan Ryan taking the DCC/ BOB with Ch Feorlig Smarty Pants JW Sh.CM and the BCC with Ch Feorlig Smart Cookie JW. BP was Sue Morrell’s Temelora Andi Get Your Gun, BV Kay Stewart and Kirsten Stewart-Knight’s Ch Denemore Story’s Echo At Tussalud. For the RDCC Pam Taylor must have been delighted with her Adnamashan Craiglang For Pamhurst taking this award and Lizzie Morley and Robert Hitchcock took the RBCC with Jorgealin Indian Magic At Lizlanmor JW. Congratulations to all the principal winners and for those getting in the cards. I believe the puppy classes had bumper entries, so that is encouraging.

Many exhibitors will have picked up your copy of The Our Dogs 2019 Annual. Always a very good read on those quieter moments over Christmas or even to wrap as a Christmas present. If you were too busy at the show then they will be available at the forthcoming shows in the coming New Year.

Petula Humphrey’s judged the Papillons at Wigan & DCS open show. BOB went to Susan Lanson’s Cantoverde Captain Casper JW ShCM and BP to Sharon Burn’s Ablazzor Tristar. Congratulations to you both.

Enjoy your Christmas shopping. How many of us last year said “I will be organised next year” …did it work ….err maybe not! Take care and enjoy the shows you are attending before Christmas.
