22 April 2022 Breed Notes

I am sure the Crufts 22 judge Miss Kitty Sjong, all the way from Denmark must have been bursting with excitement at the thought of stepping onto that Crufts green carpet to commence her judging of the Papillons. Dressed very smartly for the occasion in a blue trouser suit she looked ready to start her day.

As always at Crufts everything is set out perfectly with large rings and plenty of space. How nice it was to see folk that you hadn’t seen for a very long time and could spend the day chatting together.

The day went smoothly along with the help of the judges very competent stewards.
The judge was calm and collected and went over the dogs whilst they were on the table in a kind and sympathetic manner. All exhibits were given the opportunity to put best paws forward and I must say the dogs behaved beautifully in their classes. I think the dogs almost sensed the day was a special occasion and enjoyed the green carpet and super large ring.

Miss Sjong found her principal winners to be, with the top spot of the DCC /BOB being awarded to a very delighted Irene & Glenn Robb with Ch Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy, BCC/ BOS Yvonne Weber Multi Ch Nightfire’s Very Special Bet Dt Jch/vdh/Jch/slov/Jchwjw, RDCC was the Phalene Mr J L Santiago Pier’s Elrams Killing Me Softly, RBCC Kirsty Miller & Evan Ryan’s Ch Feorlig Smart Cookie, BPIB Dr ML & Dr EA Griffiths Manawyddan To A Wild Rose and BV Jo Davidson-Poston Ch Spinillons Rebel Rowser JW ShCM Cw14 VW shCEx. Congratulations to everyone exhibiting at Crufts and if you had the honour of taking home a placement card a special well done to you.

For the Open show scene some good results with the Papillon flag flying high.

Susie and Margaret Orchard had a lovely day at Chippenham & District Canine Society Open Show, held at Holt, Nr Trowbridge. No Papillons classes so their dogs were entered in AVNSC (Not Separately Classified). Their boy Nightfire’s Be Unique In Style at Panspayon (Imp DEU) pulled out all the stops winning AVNSC BOB and BPIB. Going on then to take Toy Puppy Group 1 and Best Puppy In Show under judge Amber Henshaw (Petershe.) That was quite a show, well done.

Lindsay Slater had a good day at Norfolk & Norwich Canine Show. Magic Sunrise Brigand with Burghbridge (MP LVA) owned by Lindsay Slater and Rui Jorge da Silva taking BOB and then a TGP3. For the breed the judge was Amanda Ellis and for the Toy Group Laurie J Hunt. Well done Lindsay that a super day for you.

At Oswestry & District Kennel Association Open Show Glenn and I ventured out for a first time show with our new little girl who was just six months old. AVNSC classes only so no Papillon classes available but it was just a training day, or so we thought.
It turned out to be a very long day but an exciting one and bless her Selena held it together so well. Irene & Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Daddy’s Starmaker BOB AVNSC/ BP AVNSC/ TGP1/ TPGP1 and then ultimately much to our surprise going on to take BIS and BPIS. The judges were AVNSC and TGP Sharon Lee Thomas (Kiamera) and BIS Lesley Swigciski (Costatta).

Take care of yourselves travelling to the shows and isn’t so good having shows back to normal were we can just enjoy what we love doing.
