23 February 2024 Papillon Breed Notes
Manchester Championship Show held at Stafford Showground is a show I always look forward to. Now with Boston further on in the year replacing East of England it is the beginning of the new show calendar.
The committee put their hearts and souls to make the show look spectacular, has the precision of a well oiled clock and most importantly always makes the exhibitors feel special.
Many trade stands were situated up on the balcony with so much to browse through at your leisure. The trade stand people always give such valued advice to new and experienced exhibitors. They truly put the icing on the cake for many and the shows would not be the same without their attendance.
The Papillons were situated in the Annex and for this show our judge was very well known and respected toy specialist Dr Andreas Schemel. Although we were flitting from one ring to another during the day everything for the Paps went along smoothly with the help of the very capable stewards and experienced judge.
I noticed there was a good entry of puppies which is exciting for the year ahead.
The principal winners were as follows: A thrilled Yvonne Weber over from Germany winning the DCC/BOB with Aus Dk Ch Ger Hun Slo Ch Swiss Vdh Mi’diliva’s A Thousand Years. I believe this is his third challenge certificate, so very well done. Jo Davidson Poston had an equally exciting day taking the BCC/BP and TPGP1 with her import Kolekcja Szuwarka Jw (Ikc). Tom Mather was the Puppy Group judge. Many congratulations to you both.
Best Veteran was Gill Geary’s Taliesyn Black Walnut and Best Special Beginners Jayne Matthews’s Baillion Be Unique. RDCC (Ryan, Mrs K F & Ryan, Mr E L & Roosens, Miss K) Ch U Knock Me Off My Feet Daydream Believers With Feorlig and finally the RBCC Irene and Glenn Robb’s Gleniren Oops I Did It Again Sunshoo.
Manchester turned out a very exciting show for us personally with little Izzy Pom (CH Gleniren All Eyes On Me) taking the BCC/BOB/ TGP1 and the magic ending of BIS. Our thanks to the judges (Breed) Julie Sparrow, (TGP) Lee Cox and BIS Dave Killilea for making it a dream show.
Open show news at Heywood & Radcliffe Canine Society Open Show. Here very well known toy specialist Steve Rooney (Yorone/Jaschin) was taking the helm for the Papillons. BOB was Pinder’s Afterglow Barbette With Starmarla and BPIB Susan Lanson’s import Empire Of Havanna Wu Wen At Cantoverde. Susan must have been delighted also taking TPGP3 under Susan Hann (Rakuchin). Congratulations to you both.
Good luck at the shows you will be attending and please let me know your successes, everyone wants to give you a round of applause.
Take care travelling to the shows.
