28 October 2022 Breed Notes
The show calendar year seems to have travelled at a neck breaking speed this year and already in a blink of an eye it is time for Northern Ireland to celebrate its Championship Show in Belfast. For many it is an annual trip when exhibitors combine forces to help cover the cost of taking the ferry across the pond. Depending on the day your group is allocated it can also mean an overnight stay or a hurried dash to ensure you get on board for the return ferry home. Then depending on your location of residence a long journey is inevitable for the journey home. All in all a couple of days of recuperation is generally needed to get the mojo back!
This year the Papillon entry must have been the lowest of all previous years in the history of the show. On top of this there were absentees; the number of dogs that were exhibited on the day was to be just three dogs and four bitches, making a total of seven. Yes I know what you are thinking; it is unbelievable as many an open show at the worst will exceeds those numbers.
The judge on this occasion was all rounder Mr Espen Engh (Norway). For the DCC there was no CC awarded. The principal winner on the day was Kirsty and Evan Ryan and Jan Goessen’s Uppercut Daydream Believers with Feorlig (Imp Bel) who took BCC/BOB/BPIB/ TPGP2 /TPGP3. The TGP judge was Mr Mark Cocozza and the TPGP judge was Mr Martin Sanders.
Good results at some Open Shows for Papillons.
At Leicester City Canine Society Open Show for the breed and Toy group it was judged by Mr Chris Briggs and BIS by Mr Tony Allcock OBE. Carol Lees had a good day taking BOB and TGP1 with Lafford Golden Child JW and Chris Headley was awarded BPIB with Paparottsie Reflections at Yeldaeh.
Exeter & County Canine Society Premier Open Show here Maria Clark donned the judge’s hat and awarded BOB to Anne Borg’s Elendil Crusader (handled by Sue Stanbury) and BP and RES BOB went to Susie and Margaret Orchard’s Panspayon Natasha.
At Newton Abbott and South Devon Canine Society Open Show Hazel Malcolm had a memorable and exciting day with Ch Feorlig It Must’ve Been Love winning the Toy Champion class and then going on to win Best Champion In show.
Okehampton & District Canine Society Premier Open Show was another successful how for Anne Borg with Sue handling Elendil Crusader taking BOB / TGP2. Dee Olaf’s youngster Tarnock Sweep the Board took BPIB and lastly BV/TVGP1 and a marvellous BVIS was Sue Stanbury’s Inixia Delightful Dan Jw Shcm. The breed and TGP judge was Ken Bartlett (Dwilencia) and BIS judge Claire Prangle.
Congratulations everyone. What a credit you and your Papillons were representing the breed at the shows.
Next week’s notes we will venture up to Bonnie Scotland for SKC.
Until then keep smiling and supporting the shows we all love so dearly.
