Easter bunnies at the ready whether it be of the cute fluffy variety or the chocolate look alike hidden under the duvet, behind the sofa cushion or at the back of the cupboard safe guarded from prying mitts. Enjoy your chocoholic moment with every mouthful, are you going to share…… what a silly question!
Having had to cancel the Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon Open Show a few weeks ago due to the snowy weather, last weekend the show took place this time with the sun shining. The committee went that extra mile for the exhibitors, cooking a two course lunch for all who had travelled to the show and tea and coffees were also available free of charge all day. The club has always given of its best and for this show they excelled all expectations. There were prizes galore for all the winners and even those entered in the puppy walk received their own Easter egg and treats. The pictures I have seen of the raffle table was outstanding with endless raffle prizes on offer to the lucky winners. Beautiful rosettes on offer, made by Eileen Roberts who was also show manager.
For this show it was breed specialist Alison Atkins that was at the helm to go over the lovely butterflies and moths present. I hope the show was a special moment for her and she thoroughly enjoyed her day.
The principal winners were as follows; BIS/BD Caroline Lee Slater’s Rozamie Monsieur Philippe, RBIS/ BOS Estelle Kirk’s Iotastar’s Forever Young, BP Susan Lanson’s Cantoverde Captain Casper with a delighted Susan also awarded RBPIS with her other youngster Cantoverde Royal Chyna. BV Karen and Steve Maskell’s Kazkell Thyme to Dream, BPH Queenie Bruce’s Tijuana Mayhem, RBD Ann and Alan Richardson’s Rozamie Request and RBB Ken Fulton’s Milbu Warlock at Kenf (imp).Congratulations to everyone who received a placement and of course the main winners.
Another great double result for Steve and Karen Maskell, this time at Retford CA under judge Sherrill Goodwin Kazkell Thyme to Dream Was Best Toy Veteran and their youngster Kazkell Milo’s Dream was BP/ TPGP4.
Not content with one great show Karen and Steve went to Nottingham Sherwood Foresters KA where the breed judge was Joe Ashwood (Silviesol). Their puppy Kazkell Milo’s Dream took BP and TPGP1 under group judge Mrs Carol Greenaway (Taihang). They also had BOB with LininroseTooVain to Dream Kazkell. What great results, well done.
Brian Lees the secretary of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club apologies for any confusion regarding the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club AGM notice sent to members – please note that the correct date of the AGM is Sunday, 15th April 2018.
As always in previous year UKTD has a good entry of Papillons. UKTD is such a popular show as it is the first show after Crufts and of course entirely Toys. There always seems a glut of puppies that take to the floor at UKTD and the enthusiasm is high for an early qualification for Crufts 2019 with older dogs. Most importantly the major consideration is that Tom Mather with his hard working committee run an excellent run show with a friendly atmosphere that all exhibitors love, me included. This year Caroline Lee Slater (Graycaz) is the breed judge and to make it a truly Papillon affair, Carol Lees (Lafford) is judging the Champion and Veteran Stakes classes. Hopefully snippets of the goings on at the show will come back to me for reporting to you.
I am sorry to hear the news that Heather Chaston is presently in hospital. Our thoughts are with you Heather and Roger, Glenn, Carolyn and I are sending our love to you both.
Enjoy the chocolate extravaganza to the maximum; the scales can wait till next week!
